Very easy to fit and excellent light output. Transformed the kitchen.

The latest get fitting arrived in a timely manner and was well packaged. The fitting instructions are easy to follow and fitting is straightforward, the holding brackets and not the most robust, but do the job well, although you need to ensure the light fitting can fit flush to the ceiling or whatever surface you are fitting it to in order for the brackets to grip and hold the body of the light fitting. The whole fitting process only takes a matter of a few minutes. Ones powered up you can adjust the type of light emitted to suit your needs. I found this was a nice bright fitting, ideal for the small outbuilding and much more suitable for this type of use than the fluorescent fitting it replaced. The light is immediate and without issue.

I ordered this light from Amazon after the man who came to fit the smart meter told me to get rid of the old neon tube that was in the kitchen. He said a modern LED light would come on instantly and would not use as much electricity. So I ordered this. It took me all morning to take down the old neon tube and install this LED light. The old neon tube had a lot of space inside it and the connection point could be inside the housing. But this is not the case with the LED strip light which sits flush against the ceiling. I had to chop away a part of the ceiling to create a recess into which the chop block connection could be housed! However having done that, fitting the new LED strip light was a simple matter. They give you 3 brackets, 3 screws and 3 wall plugs. In my case, I could use the holes that had been used to fit the old light. I used the screws that had been used to fit the old light. These went through the plasterboard into the joists above which provides a secure fix. I think if you used the wall plugs and screws supplied, then the wall plugs might pull out of the ceiling when you try to remove the fitting. There is a connector supplied that allows you to extend the length of the wire. I did not use this. You might need to run wires from a separate housing to the connection point in the ceiling. You could fit a standard bayonet light socket and run the wire from the light to a standard bayonet connector. This would make the light easy to replace without requiring the services of an electrician. The light is very bright and comes on instantly and there is no flickering as it comes on as there often is with a neon tube. However, the 50watt light I ordered does not use significantly less electricity than the old neon tube. Only buy if you are confident of your skill as an electrician as this light is not 'plug and play'! The light from this LED strip is rather harsh and it is all right for a garage. I think I might pay a bit more for an LED with variable colour temperature if it is for the kitchen.

Easy to install and overall bright and good product

Purchased four of these lights to replace some LAP lights I purchased from screwfix just over a year ago which all suddenly gave out. These things are incredibly bright and easy to fit and once again my garage looks like day time at night. They have a good angle of light, don’t flicker at all. The only things I think you should be aware of are. 1. The 2 way lever connectors supplied may not be big enough if you are fitting these in series it’s awkward to put two cables in one slot. I went and bought some 3-way lever connectors which made the job a lot easier and more secure. 2. The units are quite flimsy and flexible, this isn’t an issue at all but make sure you fit all three mounting brackets supplied for each light or they sag in the middle. Apart from that I can’t fault them and would certainly buy more if needed. If you are replacing old light units with metal housings you won’t need to fit the earth wire as these are all plastic, so just cap the earth wire and insulate. Early days but I would give these a solid 8.5/10

Excellent product , easy to fit

I brought this and at first it worked great. After two months the trouble started with no support from Amazon or the vender. The 6500k light failed, down to faulty LEDs. The vender requested the unit was returned to them at my expense and they would inspect and replace if faulty. Trouble is where do you find a 5ft slim box to pack in into. Who keeps the original packing. I ask the vender to send me a replacement or refund my money. Both refused. Amazon found on the side of the vender. SO I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU PURCHASE THIS UNIT. No positive support.
