The Science Delusion: Freeing the Spirit of Enquiry (NEW EDITION)

A brilliant book point out the problems in the fundamental assumptions of materialists/scientists
I have long said that traditional or pure science is the philosophy of doubt. Due to the politicisation of science and the endless push and pull now modern science, at least the majority of scientists, has become a religion. Why would I say this? The difference is that this new modern politicised system of science driven by negative emotions the root of which is fear has now turned into a belief system. If you don't believe in the salesmen/politicians/public-facing heads of science like Richard Dawkins then you are a charlatan. You have to believe what they say as dogma. Which is what religion is all about its about faith aka belief the opposite of doubt. This wonderful and refreshing return to the roots of science, the philosophy of doubt, will I hope to encourage people who are working in science or interested in science to start questioning, aka doubting, again. There is nothing wrong in belief in the real world when say it comes to religion. In fact, religion cannot work at all without belief/faith. However in the scientific/rational/logical world belief and a failure to doubt and therefore question scientific conclusions break science. This literary a great reminder to return to traditional science and doubt and question within rationality everything in science.

Refreshing and tasty yet tough food for thought
The junction where objectivity & subjectivity overlap - is very nicely handled in this book. Rupert allows great room for naturally & objectively theorizing this junction, yet accommodates first person view introspectively & subjectively.

The Dogmas of Science Revealed
I first came across Rupert Sheldrake when, as a youngster, I read Hans Christian Andersen's tale "The Emperor's New Clothes". Sheldrake was the little child who yelled out "But he hasn't got anything on!". I now see that the little child has grown up and he's no less restrained in his yelling out.

Towards Open-mindedness
A truly great and original book. Sheldrake manages to combine the most lucid and logical thinking with an open-minded acceptance of the the paranormal while at the same time proposing practical suggestions to test and verify the paranormal incidents.

Superb book, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Mr. Sheldrake sums up in a very concise, logical way all that is wrong with modern "Scientism". I love science and am appaled how it has become entrenched in a series of materialistic, reductionist dogmas that have nothing to do with the true concept of an open, questioning attitude towards life's unsolved misteries. Mr. Sheldrake "nails it" point after point, showing how there is no real objective investigation into things we don't understand. It's all driven by greed or outdated 17th century dogmas.
