First impressions, and after a year
Just received the X30 with starter kit and these are my first impressions. The first question everyone has is how much gear will it hold, we don't buy lenses in liters. I have not filled the cube up yet, pictured is a EF 70-200 f4 LII with an RF to EF adapter, RF 24-105 F4 L, RF 16mm STM, RF 35mm STM and a RF 50mm STM. I have to dig around for my 2X teleconverter that will join the bag. I usually care my camera with a 100-500 mounted looking for wildlife and switch to a prime for landscape as needed. I do not shoot the 70-200 as much as I used to and it may be leaving the kit which would leave me plenty or room for a second body with the 50mm at the side door for a quick grab. I did place my Canon R5 without a battery grip into the cube and it fit fine height wise, not so sure it would if you had the battery grip on. I also tried the R5 with the 100-500 mounted and the hood reversed and found it too tight vertically. I also tried across to make it accessible from the side and it was difficult to get in because of the frame and then also too tight. The X50 or X70 might work better for that setup. This already feels like an upgrade over the Lowepro Flipside Trek 350 I had before. The pack loaded up nice, a place for everything. One thing Shimoda does not list but mentions in one in their videos is the aluminum stays (frame). This really helps drive the load into the hip belt making for a better riding pack that can take more load comfortably. After loading it up I played chase with the dog and the pack stayed nicely in place with no unsettling shift or crunching sounds. The frame might have interfered with loading the R5 with a Zoom but I would rather have the benefits of the frame. I do wish it came with more dividers. Can't wait to take it out for a "Test Drive".UPDATER AFTER A YEAR:The frame in the pack makes caring heavy loads and long days easy on the back. This alone makes this pack above most anything else on the market. I have since added a Shimoda Top Loader to the hip belt. I also added a Canon R7 that now is usually setup with the 100-500 in the Top Loader with the R5 on a shoulder strap. I find this worked well over a long weekend in Yosemity NP. I find I am using my peak design capture less as the pack and Top Loader make caring my gear so much more comfortable. The extra straps they sell for this pack did not work well in retaining the Top Loader in position on the pack hip belt as they suggest. A cheap small carabiner works much better. I will keep this at a fire star and would purchase again. If you are outdoors with your gear, I recommend you get one of these.

Punches all the tickets.
Extremely comfortable. I chose this for the bag's ability to expand for extra food/gear/clothes while out and about. This was one of the best options.

Great camera bag for serious travelers and hikers
I compared the Shimoda X30 with the larger X50, and bags from several other brands. I finally chose the X30 with medium DSLR core unit V2. It meets (almost) all my needs to carry camera gears and travel worldwide.

Outdoorsy Bag for Content Creators
As someone who loves hiking, I was on the hunt for a camera bag that could fit and protect gear, but also have room for hiking clothes and essentials. This bag has so far lived up to my expectations and also looks great. The color also lends itself well for the outdoors.Lots of compartments, pockets to hold tech essentials. Able to place a peak design capture clip on the strap which is really handy.Latest 16” MacBook Pro (m1 max version) also fits in laptop pocket. Any bigger and likely would not. Construction is also very very good.Loving the bag so far and highly recommend!

There is no perfect camera bag, but...
Serious photographers often stress over finding/using the perfect bag. Are you in the city shooting street or out in the "wild" looking for the perfect landscape? While this Shimoda can easily be used for both, it is best suited for the landscape photographer that will need to carry much more than just their camera gear. Apple room for all the essentials, this bag is insanely adjustable with all the options one could ever need. I can't think of a better, more well-designed, and constructed bag! This one is an absolute keeper!

Best travel camera backpack!!
Super comfy straps that take weight off shoulder, great size for both urban and outdoor settings and well thought out features. Looks like I can stop searching for the next camera bag (maybe until the v2 comes out)!

might be my favorite backpack I have ever put on.
So for background I go for short 5km-10km hikes pretty much every day. I always have dogs with me as that's the main point of the walks, getting me and the dogs out for a walk. I usually want to have a camera with me as well as maybe a lens, and ideally room for spare layers or snacks or whatever.Outside of these regular short hikes I also like going above that 10km mark and do a more ambitious hike where bringing more water, layers, even light camping is possible. All that said this bag ticks all the boxes. If you remove some stuff from the bag it feels comfy and light, has the extra room if you need it. carrying a camera and a lens is no problem and you barely even feel that added weight. I have attempted this kind of smaller hike with my peak design bag and while it works technically it feels like its pushing its limits. not to mention the peak design everyday bags waist strap is a bloody joke. I love a lot of peak designs stuff, even the everyday backpack serves its purpose quite well. but hiking is just not what its designed for.Even fully loaded it still feels tight and doesn't feel like its straining to have on. Its like someone made a perfect middle ground between a proper backcountry backpack and my camera backpack for weddings. A few features from each come through. Comfort and adaptability of the backcountry backpack, but then all the nice organizational features you expect from a camera bag. I even like that it has the 2 ways to enter the camera area with the side opening to grab your camera quick, OR the back where it opens up and you can access everything.I checked out reviews online and came to the conclusion that this bag was worth the steep price. seeing it in person and I have no notes. great build quality, fits like a glove, carries everything I need and then some... absolutely brilliant.

Increible Back Pack
