Top 1 Book of my Go books collection (~30 books)
This is by far the book that offers the most insightful discussion on the intersection of direction of play and josekis. The variations are outdated, but the reasoning will never be. At the beginning of the book, the author states that his objective is to make the reader two stones stronger, which is quite a lot to ask: but, after reading it, I was 2 stones stronger (3k to 1k) and, some months later, I had finally broken to 1d.

This book is excellent for single-digit kyu players who wish to develop a whole-board vision.Often one can become too "focused" on a single area of the board, and this book, consisting of a set of full-board problems, invites the reader to notice important things that should be taken into account when choosing where to play next. Important information that is neatly organized and presented. When reading the book, you should keep a piece of paper to cover up the next page, since the answers are sometimes on a facing page. Despite this layout problem, the information contained in the book is very useful.
