We are on the brink of another era of scientific revolution and the Cloud is the difference maker
I loved Mark Mills previous book The Bottomless Well-I built and sold a business for over $100 million based on his insights- so I had high expectations for The Cloud Revolution. I didn't understand the transformative power of the Cloud until I read this book. I learned that the cloud has actually accelerated Moore's Law. There has been a proliferation of new scientific instruments and this combined with the Cloud's "ability to share, store and analyze data in real-time enables the application of Ai and machine learning to allow researchers to find subtle changes or phenomena in natural ways rather than the static environment of a laboratory. It is a distinction with a profound difference." I also believe the book is going to make me a better entrepreneur and investor. Like Mr. T "I pity the fool who doesn't buy this book!"

Too long winded and academic
Although I enjoyed the book, it was very long winded and academic. If you decide to purchase it, you will get a lot out of it, especially if you are interested in technology history. That said, I thought there was too many references to obscure Nobel laureates and it took away from the narrative. A book that covers the same subject but is more accessible is “The Future is Faster than you Think “.

BACK TO THE FUTURE.....2020s WILL BE LIKE THE 1920s
Mark Mills captures the excitement of what technology will bring to humanity over the coming decades. This book is filled with all kinds of interesting statistics which is reason enough to read it. However the insights offered around the "Cloud", "Microprocessors", and "Material" sciences are nothing short of astonishing.Read a book that delivers a positive view of what the future holds based on facts and historical trends.Go ahead why not feel good??????

Encouraging and brilliant
I've been a fan of Mark Mills' writing from the Manhattan Institute, but was mostly interested in energy related topics. I am a technological neophyte, so I only had/have a cursory knowledge of Cloud computing. The Cloud Revolution really opened my eyes to the dramatic revolution we are experiencing today and will seemingly continue well into the future.I was pleased to see Mr. Mills integrate the massive, and growing, energy needs to power the tools that will enable the extraordinary level of prosperity that could be unleashed with Cloud computing. One quote that really stuck out to me, "Over the past 60 years, the energy efficiency of ever-less expensive logic engines has improved by over one billion fold. Nothing close to such gains are possible with mechanical and energy machines that occupy the world of atoms, not bits and photons."I feel that so often forecasters and policy makers erroneously project the tremendous gains made in computing power to the gains that could be possible with energy and those gains never materialize, because, as Mr. Mills points out, they are governed by different laws of physics. That is just one of very many incredible insights this book offers.I sincerely hope Mr. Mills keeps writing books, absolutely brilliant.

Great book
Besides being a great read, the book is loaded with very useful and interesting information regarding data on specific industries. Not easy to read like a novel as you cannot peruse the content you have to read it and sometimes go back over a paragraph to get the true meaning. One of the best business oriented books and a look at the future I have read recently. Great read for investment oriented people.
