Love all Hannah Harrison's books
Harrison's illustrations are to die for, and she always has wholesome, sweet stories that children will love. Wish I could go back and read her books to my own children who are now grown!

Too old, too young
This is a really cute book, BUT... It is listed as being for kids ages 4-8. Having seen the reactions of multiple kids ages 5-8, I have to say that the concept of this book is way over most of their heads. Although it uses fun and rude sounds and stuff that young kids love to do (and some parents won't allow - like arm pit farts), it also uses words, cliche's, and comments that adults will easily understand, but not many kids. There are words and concepts that will create a need for a parent to practically create a lesson plan to help many children understand what the book is even about. If you are a parent who is willing to put out a bit of time just to read and explain one book, this one might be for you. However, I would suggest it is more for ages 9 and 10, and may even be over some of their heads, but they are able to read and study the book on their own, if they wish. I can tell the author wanted it to be fun and educational, but too much "schooling" is required during the readings, and most parent's don't want to spend that much time or effort on a book. So, I'm giving it 3 stars for cuteness and the author's good intent.

Friendship story with subtle bit of STEM
A story of the quintessential odd couple. Where a cultured, impeccably dressed rhino, complete with a bow tie and sweater, is confronted with a persistent, rude, bedraggled tickbird.Even though, predictably they become friends, the ending is satisfying. Hannah's illustrations are loaded with treasures and humor and I love the rich vocabulary she uses throughout the book.Subtly placed within the greater message of friendship and acceptance of others lies the scientific nugget of the symbiotic relationship between rhinos and tickbirds. Tucked into the end pages, there are two definitions of "sym-bi-o-sis," which track the development of Rupert & Levi's friendship.Overall this is a great book about starting friendships, especially some unlikely ones, with a bit of science and language arts (vocabulary and dictionary usage) thrown in.

Rupert and Levi are my new favorite friend pairing
Rupert and Levi are my new favorite friend pairing. I hope we see more of them! As someone who always sees themselves as the embarrassing friend, I'm glad there's a book I can give to all of MY friends to show them how much I appreciate them. Harrison's playful use of language, paired with her awesome illustrations (the dodgeball scene is hilarious!), make this book laugh-out-loud funny. But don't let that fool you, it will also hit you right in the feels.

Funny, engaging, and beautifully illustrated
I love this book so much I hug it whenever I read it. And I read it quite often. This is a book that adults will not want to hide from their children after the 100th read. And the opportunity to learn the shades of meaning behind one big word is a plus!

One of my favorite author/illustrators!
Great book about not realizing you need a friend until the one you didn’t think you wanted becomes the one you really miss.
