Saved me $2000+
This product is a game changer! Being an older model vehicle (2011) and a specialty car (R8 Spyder) it was very difficult to find options. Most of them were going to be a $2000 plus for a new head unit. I'm old, and own allot of music so I don't have to stream. Perfect for my needs and I get to keep the great sounding B&O OEM system already in place. Win-Win.It was easy to use, with great connect quality. It appears to be durable and should last for the ownership of the vehicle. Arrived on time to conclude a very easy evolution. Estatic with this purchase!

Not supported for media connection
Did not work for media. Only usable for charging iPhone on my 2016 Audi A3, and the Audi already has a USB charging port so this adapter is essentially useless.

Works fine with VW touch screen interface for music. Also charges fine.
I bought this cable to 1.) play music stored on a USB thumb drive through the car's speakers, and to 2.) charge my Android phone (with the use of a second USB to mini-USB adapter cable). I have a 2015 VW Passat SE. I've simply plugged this cable into the car's port, plugged the USB thumb drive into the other end this cable, and pressed the "Media" button on the center console screen. All the songs show up there on the screen and I can move through the list of songs, set them up for random play, set them up for sequential play, repeat a song that just played, skip songs - you name it. The song titles and the name of the artists are displayed on center screen. All I can say to the people who haven't been able to get this cable to work to play music stored on their thumb drives is "RTFM." As for using it to charge a phone, obviously since phones have a mini-USB port, you have to get another cable which has a USB plug on one end and mini-USB plug on the other, but I've used such a cable in conjunction with this cable to charge my phone and it works fine. I recommend this cable without reservation.

Works with my 2014 VW Golf
I bought this for my 2014 VW Golf. I used it to plug in a usb drive loaded with MP3 and it worked fine. I was able to select media in my Car radio and start playing the files on my usb drive. The only slight hassle is because of the cable length you have to stuff the cable in the console when a usb drive is plugged in.

Works in 2012 VW GTI with the right flash drive
My 2012 VW GTI (with stock Delphi DE2-DDM single CD stereo, no nav) came equipped from the factory with an Apple MDI cable which connects to the car underneath the center armrest. As it became more difficult to keep an iPhone 4 running to connect to that cable for music, I decided to give this ‘ELONN MDI/AMI USB Adapter Cable - VW Media in to USB’ cable a try.The plug for this ELONN MDI/AMI USB Adapter Cable was a bit of a tighter fit in the car’s socket than the factory cable, but finally I figured out that you must be careful to keep the plug aligned properly to the socket when inserting. The first two (old) USB flash drives I tried to use did not work — the car stereo told me ‘MEDIA NOT SUPPORTED’. One drive was USB 2.0, and the other may have been 1.0 or 2.0 (not sure).I thought I would try one more time, so I ordered a new ‘Kingston DataTraveler Kyson 128GB High Performance USB 3.2 Metal Flash Drive’ from Amazon. This (FAT32 formatted) drive worked immediately and provides very quick music navigation on the car stereo. Not sure if it matters, but I created a root ‘Music’ folder, and within that Artist folders, then Album folders and finally song MP3 files. I’m very pleased with this cable and wish I would have bought it long ago, especially at only $14.

Works in 2014 Audi allroad MMI Nav Plus
I couldn't see spending around $70 USD for the OEM cable and started looking around for an option. I found this cable here on Amazon and decided to give it a try, especially for the price. Reviews suggested it would probably work so I ordered. After it arrived I loaded some mp3 files on an older128gb flash drive, plugged it into the receptacle in the glovebox, turned on the MMI system and was bummed to see it wouldn't connect at first. Fussed with it a bit and then the display noted that it was finding the drive but the files were unreadable.I tried another old flash drive and it was found by the MMI and the files were readable and played. The key turned out to be the formatting. The MMI recognized Fat32 but not exfat. I reloaded the files to a brand new 128gb flash drive formatted as Fat32 and I'm in business. Now I only need to establish longevity. If I have any issues, I'll update this review, but for now all is well.
