Gerber Gear 30-001006N Ghoststrike Fixed Blade Knife Deluxe Kit with Ankle Wrap, Black

OK! There is a lot going on with this knife, bottom line is it is badass and is very versatile. Keep in mind, this is not a heavy duty blade, this is not intended for abuse (though it may be able to take some), but more something to always be on your person for when you need it. First let me start off by saying that there are 2 Ghostrike Fixed Blade Knife options, the regular, and the deluxe kit. They are about $15 difference, so if you see 2 products that seem the same but have different prices, that's whats going on. One is just the knife, and one is the deluxe kit. This knife is ultralight for a full tang fixed blade, I believe it was designed to be as low profile as possible. A fixed blade your could have on your body at all times without noticing it. Great as an EDC knife in the backcountry for the minimalist, the way this is set up it will attract everyone from ultralight hikers and survivalists to tactical law enforcement and military. Most will use this as a backup, but some...will use this as a primary. The steel is 420HC which I know some people are not the biggest fans of, but man when you hold this, you will love it. Sharp out of the box, the grip is perfect, and it just contours right to the hand like it should. The sheath is a whole other story. The blade locks in with these 2 tension locks for left handers or right handers. Also it has these belt loops that can be adjusted to mount on a belt vertically or inverted, and also horizontally left or right...and it sits flush. That's the beauty behind it, I just love being able to mount it in so many different locations or variations. The deluxe kit comes with this awesome ankle wrap which is made from neoprene. The sheath mounts directly to the wrap and can be worn on the ankle and does not feel uncomfortable in any way (I have went on a hike already with it mounted there). It actually feels pretty bad ass, and looks cool too. I could see myself or anyone wearing this with shorts on at the beach or near water as a river/dive knife or wear it paddleboarding. It does have 2 drain holes at the bottom of the sheath for water to escape and feels locked in pretty well. It is designed for concealed carry and many will get this just for that concept. I believe this knife would be great for self defense situations, or for anyone who may not ever want to carry a knife on a belt This offers a nice mounting option as an alternative to just belt or neck carry. This can be mounted to MOLLE webbing and I currently have it mounted on the side of a Maxpedition Remora with two 3" TacTies. The best part is the knife is made in Portland, OR. I believe many will get behind the Ghostrike and find many many uses for this versatile knife and all its mounting options. Highly recommended. I just don't know why Gerber didn't utilize the rest of the wrap that does not have the knife on it for "other" things...like an elastic sleeve for a mini ferro rod, or some tiny pocket for cash or whatever you may want to put in there. I guess its because it's part of the Gerber Tactical category, and not the Survival or Outdoor categories. Anyone with questions feel free to ask!

My knife arrived a day earlier than predicted. It was well packaged for shipping and missing no parts or pieces. Thanks Knife Country USA. The knife is VERY light and secures nicely/firmly in the hard, nylon sheath. The handle is contoured to my hand size perfectly, and though I like a thicker grip, I know this grip is skeletonized and compact for concealibility and light weight. There is a sort of concave indenture in the top rear of the blade, and I am not sure what it is for. Maybe it is a sort of "rest" for one's thumb? I'm not complaining... just curious. I bought this knife mostly because it came with an ankle wrap for the sheath. I love this ankle wrap set up! It is easy to put on/take off, very comfortable to wear for long periods (all day), and due to the light weight of the sheath and the knife, I easily forget it is even there. I don't know much about types of steel, etc; but the blade on this knife is pretty sharp without any final honing being necessary, in my opinion. I haven't used it enough to comment on how well it holds its edge or how hard it might be to sharpen. Finally, as another reviewer noted, the knife is made in the USA, and I like that. I'd definitely buy this knife again, and recommend it to you without hesitation.

This GhostStrike knife is exactly what I was looking for. The ankle holder is very comfortable and I can barely tell that I am wearing it. It is fit on either side of either foot, but I can tell that it was made for a right-handed person because of the position of the grip on the knife. The knife is very sharp and tough, and I am very pleased with it. I noticed that the sheath and knife assembly can also be removed from the strap and then the knife can be carried in a horizontal position behind the back, or in the vertical position. The knife clips into the sheath very securely, so you can carry it in any position safely. I absolutely love this knife and it is well worth the money for this item because the design is perfect and it is very well made.

Came close to loving this knife. I'm not a huge fan of 420HC steel, but this knife came almost razor sharp and the edge has held up to opening Amazon packages and killing cardboard boxes for trash pickup thru the entire holiday season. It's still as sharp as it was, and a close-up exam of the blade shows no wear on it at all. My only gripe so far is that for a 10.5" knife, it doesn't quite fill my hand. I think I have pretty ordinary sized "guy"hands, but I find myself wanting another 1/2" or so to completely fill my palm. For you shooters out there, it's kinda like holding a compact semi-automatic and having your little finger constantly falling off the grip. Love the kydex sheath. Looks cool, and holds tight without any rattle. Only takes a couple of minutes to convert the carry to the ankle carry by a few screws. Fine, close fit underneath my old non-issue jump boots as well as under cowboy boots.

This knife is one of the best i've seen from Gerber. (5 stars) But... the directions from Gerber included with the knife asks the consumer for the installation of 6 fasteners when installing in the ankle sheath configuration. Gerber fell down again by not including the proper number of fasteners in the deluxe kit to match the installation directions in the deluxe package. Also the Gerber's web page as well as all the magazine marketing photos Ive seen are the same way....displaying a ankle photo for the ankle sheath configuration failing to install all 6 screws in the marketing pictures. Again just another example where a good, no a great company is failing the consumers by not paying attention to details. I requested from Gerber additional hardware (not included in the Deluxe package), so I could install ankle sheath correctly as per the Gerber directions. Replacement hardware came in fast from Gerber. Gerber should also add a few drops of locktite to the instructions for securing the hardware. I also recently purchased the Gerber Silver Trident... again Gerber fell down on the job with the sheath being made in China. Beautiful knife...expensive but well worth it, Gerber should understand and recognize that the US consumers who buy good quality US products are willing to pay the extra money to have a good knife sheath with all the hardware included (and not made in China). So now I'm going out to get a custom sheath made for my Silver Trident. Being prior military, (both Army and Air Force), and understanding military clothing specifications, equipment issue, and the need to have good equipment... Gerber could have done a better job, especially if the Silver Trident was designed by prior Seal Team members. What was Gerber thinking to have a inferior knife sheath for the Silver Trident manufactured in China? Im sure it pissed off the Seal designers of the Silver Trident.

This is an excellent fixed blade EDC knife. The ankle wrap is the best I've ever had come with a knife, and is truly comfortable for 16hr+ wear. Honestly I often forget that it is there. I've had it and worn it daily for 2 weeks or so, and I don't regret this purchase for a moment. It's light enough, thin enough and with a solid enough lockup that you could easily wear it as a neck knife or scout carry without fear of the knife dislodging. The included belt tabs look solid enough and are wide enough to accomodate a 1.75" belt width. I'm not a huge fan of the 420hc steel, I've found it needs resharpening more often than I'd like. That said, as a backup on an ankle it's perfect. No rusting, no worrying and the edge will be there when you need it. This thing does not print AT ALL. I've attached some photos of it on, and one with the pants over it and pulled forward. ZERO printing, and as I've said before, I often forget it's there. It's not a huge knife. I have L/XL hands, and the pinkie isn't always on the end of the handle, but it feels like a solid grip for a skeletonized knife. I love and hate the rubberized coating. I know it's going to wear off, but you really can't wrap much paracord around the handle before you start interfering with the sheath, so it's a great alternative. Perhaps I'll plasti-dip it when the rubber starts falling off. One word of caution. The lockup is fantastic, but there seem to be two metal detents inside that have the potential to dull the edge when inserting/withdrawing the knife. I haven't had any problems along those lines, but it's something to watch out for. Tips for mounting to the ankle wrap and wearing: - Mount the knife exactly the opposite the way that is shown in the photo. Mount so that the curve of the strap when flat runs down away from the protruding handle instead of up. This is because the shorter side of the wrap will be around the smaller portion of your ankle. The larger length of the wrap will be around the wider base of your calf. - I used all six screws when mounting to the ankle wrap. You could add a drop of loctite blue to each screw, but after tightening all six down and two weeks of daily wear nothing has loosened up. - You don't need to cinch the wrap down very tightly at all. Just barely stretched seems to be enough to hold it in place. - I'm left handed, so wearing this on my left ankle meant that I needed to rotate the knife position around to the 7 or 8 o'clock position so that the strap buckle wasn't sitting on the front of my shin. That was the only discomfort for the first day or two. Right handed carriers won't have this problem unless carrying on the inside of the leg. To pair this ankle knife with a neck knife for EDC, the best two I've found that are relatively inexpensive and lightweight are: Columbia River Knife And Tool's Folts Minimalist Bowie 2387 Razor Edge and Schrade SCHF57 Full Tang Fixed Blade Knife Both are relatively inexpensive and will hold an edge reasonably well for everyday use. The Schrade is about twice as heavy as the CRKT, but it's more knife. Neither is too heavy to wear daily as a neck knife (at least for me). I've found that I pull the neck knife out most often, as it's easier to access and less work than getting at the ankle knife, so I worry about the steel quality in the neck knife more. Just my $0.02.

This is a great high quality knife. Full tang design is strong and sturdy. Its hard to tell in the picture but the skeletonized handle is actually coated in rubber with ridges on the grip that give you a very good hold on the blade. This knife comes RAZOR sharp, im a collector and purchase high quality blades from renowned companies but none have been as sharp out of the box as this. My favorite feature is the multi carry options, I love the vertical belt carry on the back. But its also very handy to attach to the sleeve and where around your boot, pr better yet as ive found, your arm. Its very easy and fast to switch between the sleeve wrap, vertical or horizontal carry positions. Overall perfect product and fast shipping, a must have! I may even buy a second to attach both vertically on the back of my belt facing away from each other. Just note that if you plan to carry in this manner itll need a belt loop in front of the sheathe to prevent it from sliding along ur belt when you attempt to deploy it. Hope this helps!

One of the best boot knives out there with the best ankle strap possible alongwith the sheath which is simply brilliant. The blade comes razor sharp out of the box and holds the edge well. The handle is grippy and sits comfortably in your hand. Above all, blade is designed perfectly to do the minor to major bush tasks easily, and has a needle point tip too. The ankle strap is soft yet strong and snug enough to be worn throughout the day. Deluxe edition is definitely worth the additional price. Gerber makes the best sheaths in the business, no doubt about it. And this knife is lucky enough to get, I believe, the best sheath they have. It is thin, light and has an ambidextrous lock. Moreover, the ways in which it can be worn are numerous because of the detaching screws. One can wear it across the neck, on a belt both ways, or forearm, or on an ankle. This tiny knife is amazing and is made in the US. That's right, it ain't a cheap Chinese one either. I think I might get another one....

Bought this to use as an easy access survival knife when hiking and primarily wear it over my pants on my ankle or outside of my shirt on my upper arm. Great comfortable fit and a quality protect. Knife stays put in its sheath, even in an inverted (upside down) position. Easy to sharpen and care for.....and maintains its sharpness with general use. I'd highly recommend.....but definitely be aware of any concealment regulations in your area because in some locations you cannot wear this underneath your clothing, otherwise you risk arrest and prosecution for a concealed weapon.

Fits firmly in the hand and has a nice edge to it right out of the box. Like other reviewers mention, I can see how the sheathing and unsheathing this knife with the included sheath would dull it quickly. But, let's face it, no matter how you look at it, a knife like this is basically a concealed tactical knife that you would not (hopefully) unsheathing often. The sheath is awesome in all three configurations, vertical or horizontal on the belt, or calf carry. There is no way this blade is coming out by accident. Would definitely repurchase.
