Q: What's the difference between this version and the more expensive alpha dogg

If you are refering to the Boss dog vs the alpha dogg. The differences would be: the alpha dogg has 2gb of memory (1000 sounds), it is programmable with decoy (not included), there are 75 sounds and 6 expert hunts pre-programmed into the call, and the speakers are powered by two 25 watt digital amps. The boss dogg has 4gb of memory (2000 sounds), is programmable with a decoy (includes a cat tail decoy), it has 100 sounds and 8 expert hunts pre-programmed into it, and speakers are powered by 3 50 watt class-D amps.

Q: The remote keeps getting stuck and you can:t turn it off without taking the batteries out. What is wrong?

I have had this problem on my unit, the screen goes white, the only way you can get it out of that state is to remove the batteries. It only happens when the batteries get low. I was a bit concerned the first few times it happened to me. I changed out the batteries for new ones and it fixes the problem every time. It actually happened to me this morning on a hunt, I was thinking I need to change out the batteries soon and I guess it is time. You can still use the remote a handful of times like this...it just a bit of a pain. I just measured the used batteries in the unit (black lead on neg side, top right as you have the remote open and on it's face, and red on positive side, bottom left as you have the remote open laying on it's face) and it is reading 3.71 vdc...with a full battery supply it should be at least 4.5vdc (with new batteries my was reading 4.85vdc, new batteries should be about 1.6ish each). Give that a try, I think you will find it fixes your problem ever time. Good luck!.

Q: Any one know of a good decoy to use with this call?

I use the icotech pd200. It works good and brings in the dogs

Q: What sound is most affective?

In the past baby cotton tail or cotton tail with other calls. Been out a few times with the Alpha dogg just haven't had any luck with it in Florida yet. Sounds great though. I mostly stick with those or pup distress.
