This product will not hold a hand gun on it's own. The magnet gun caddy is meant to support a long gun being leaned against a metallic surface. The weight of a handgun being held solely by the magnet gun caddy will likely slide out over time.

Q: can this be screwed to wood?

Yes, you can! We have customers who order several and attach them to their duck blinds, for example.

Q: Would this work to hold the barrell of my .410 snake gun on my lawn mower? Not sure about the bouncing and vibration of the mower and smaller .410

The magnet gun caddy itself will stick to a metal lawn mower even while being driven, the problem is that as you suspected the barrel will shake out of the magnet gun caddy as the mower runs, especially with the smaller barrel size. Our products are not conducive with holding a fire arm to a moving lawn mower or other vehicle. The Magnet Gun Caddy also specifies that the customer should disarm any firearm used with the Magnet Gun Caddy before using the magnet gun caddy.
