Good security upgrade but requires careful installation
We moved in to a new house recently, and I decided the exterior door hardware needed to be upgraded. The strike plates and hinges were attached with 1/2” long screws, which is ridiculous but seems to be common on newer houses. Basically we had privacy doors, one good kick would probably be enough to pop them open. After looking at some options I decided to try the Door Armor product. I initially ordered one set to try installing on the side door going out of the garage, because I wanted to try it out on a door where we weren’t really worried about appearance (which my wife was particularly concerned about).Shipping was prompt and the product arrived well packaged and in good condition. One note about that, the long (40”) door jamb reinforcement piece appeared slightly curved but it turned out the metal is pliable enough that it flattened down just fine when screwed into the door jamb.Installation was relatively straightforward and trouble free. I would say this job requires basic handyman skills. The first set I installed took about an hour, but that included gathering up tools and beer breaks, ha ha. There are a couple of things you need to be really careful about though. First is getting everything lined up properly, and marking where the screws go in with some precision. This is where a helper can be handy. The second thing is DRILL DEEP ENOUGH PILOT HOLES FOR THE SCREWS. Sorry to yell with all caps but this part is really important. These are long (3.5 inch) screws, and only 1/8” diameter. Without good pilot holes there is a pretty good chance of breaking the screws or stripping out the head when trying to drive them in. The first set I installed I only had a standard length drill bit that would only go in maybe 2”, and getting the screws driven all the way down got a little sketchy. For the second set I bought a 6” long bit, it cost $3.00 and I highly recommend it for this project.Once installed, the only thing that can be seen from outside with the door closed is the pieces that go over the edge of the door to protect the lock sets. With the door open the large jamb plate and the hinge reinforcement plates can be seen, but they are not obtrusive or ugly. The color we got matched our door hardware pretty well. When my wife saw what it looked like on the garage side door, she gave me permission to install this on our front door, so I have now installed two sets. I feel a lot better now knowing that if someone wants to break in through our exterior doors they will probably need to bring a battering ram or a sledgehammer instead of just kicking it once or twice.

Great door security
Door Armor is a must have to reinforce a doors weak points.Easy to install with the supplied bit. Took about 30 minutes to install. The bit is low quality, too small and strips quickly. The bit should use a larger Phillips head. Even at low drill speeds, I used both bits. The materials used used are excellent quality and the supplied longer screws ensure the door will be very difficult to kick in.Overall, Door Armor is a good value for the money. It definitely rovides peace of mind.

Great investment!
I usually do the handyman work around our house and for me, a female, thus was an easy install without any additional help. This truly secured my door, there isn't any give on it at all. I didn't install the 2 smaller brackets as my door is metal and it was hard for me to drill through. But with just the long plate and the hinge brackets, I feel very secure. Purchasing one for my back door.

Good home door protection! Makes my family feel a bit more secure!
Very nice kit for making your exterior doors stronger! Nothing will keep someone out of your house if they really want in they will find a way! But anything to slow them down to give you more time to "prepare" is worth it! The first one took me about 30 min because I wanted to read the instructions to make sure all was done right but out of the package it's clear what needs to be done. I also did 2 more on our other doors and 2 more on our other house for all exterior doors! After the first one the others took about 15 min. If you have an alarm make sure you locate the door sensor before install. On one door it was right in the way of the long plate. Even though I'm technical and know alarms very well it was just easier to drill a hole in the plate for the sensor. All it needs is exposure to the magnet to make contact. Moving the sensor would have been more work and a pain. (Pics attached). I noticed in some reviews there were complaints about the supplied screws snapping at the head! Not an issue for me and I did 5 doors. The screws are more than adequate even with a drill. I snapped two drill Phillips bits but no screws. If anything I slightly stripped a couple of the screw heads but use common sense if you see the drill stripping the screw just pull it away. I did and used every screw provided. So overall a great product! Now the only two minor negatives and the only reason I didn't give the product 5 stars: 1) the nickle color is not a true nickel and looks more like a light gold or bronze. I've attached a couple of pics of my door hardware which are true nickel. It's not a big deal for me but for some it will be and worth mentioning. 2) There are only 2 door hinge pieces. Most external doors today come standard with three so I feel that to really complete the job they should include three with the same price. I looked for a single door hinge and couldn't find it anywhere but on door armors website. They sell one hinge for $12. But I still recommend this product for anyone wanting to make their door more sturdy! I'm 240lbs and can kick in just about any standard door with one kick! So I know it's very easy for thieves! Installation is a snap so anyone can install this!

Excellent product for enhancing you door
I installed this on my front door. It took about 20 minutes. I read the other reviews and knew the included bit was problematic. Used a better quality T20 bit that came with a bit set I had, and I had no issues. I suggest pre-drilling for the long screws. Do that and use a better bit, and you will have no issues. The reinforcements are thick and have made my door much more secure. I purchased the white to match the door and frame, and it blends perfectly. Excellent product!

Significant Upgrade, Easy to Install
Easy to install and a significant upgrade to the house builders strike plates and screws. If someone came looking for trouble, the front door is going to require a lot more effort and noise to break down now. One thing to keep in mind is the star bit it comes with is not very good, you will want to use a T20 bit from your own impact driver kit.
