Partition Commander

Put a large hard drive in an older laptop not knowing that there was a drive limit so I didn't partition at initial install. Worked fine for about a month, then the laptop froze. Diagnostics said nothing wrong with the hard drive or memory. Help sites clued me in. Got this product on-line, booted to their disk, partitioned the hard drive while saving all my data to the first partition, and was up and running again in no time. The instructions weren't great but I muddled my way through. Just ended up creating two partitions of the same size from a 250 gig drive and all was good. Way cheaper than going to one of the companies that will trouble shoot computers for you. And now I have a program that might be useful for other drive issues.

I purchased this application from Amazon. I was somewhat apprehensive about purchasing/installing Partition Commander 10 on my computer due to the mixed user comments on Amazon. I am running a 1GB PC clone, using Microsoft XP and have two hard drives. In contrast to the negative reviews by some Amazon users my personal experience with this software has been excellent. After the program installation I re-partition my first hard drive from two partitions down to one without losing any data. In addition to this first modification I also re-partitioned my second hard drive from one to two partitions again without any problems/glitches or lost data. I do feel that the user must read the instructions thoroughly and take proper backup precautions BEFORE doing any modification of their present computer software. Thank you Amazon for offering this excellent application!

Used Partition Commander 10 on old SONY VAIO Desktop PC running Windows XPI was constantly out of space on the C partition because it was too small. But I had plenty of room on the D partition (same hard drive 250 GB). Windows update and virus protection software constantly filling up the C partition (out of space warnings).So, I bought this program to solve the problem: to increase the C partition size from 15 GB to 105 GB (by moving 90 GB of free space from the D partition). Had some trouble getting it to start because of virus protection software and firewall, and required registration. Finally got it going though a reboot.It took 7 hours! But it worked. I now have plenty of space on C partition. I recommend it for this solution. Quick shipment from Amazon.

I needed to redistribute space on my hard drive (C was too small). I used this product about 6 years ago to create multiple OS partitions and figured it would work. I tried at least 10 times to use thier Space redistribution wizard and got nothing other than checking file system integrity. There were no messages or any indication that there is a problem. I also tried merging two NTFS partitions, but I got an error saying there weren't two NTFS partitions on the drive, even though the software said there was. I emailed support (I wasn't going to pay to speak to someone on the phone) and have not heard anything from for 3 weeks, even sending a second email. When I did call, I got Nova Development (greeting cards) not the V-COM. DON'T buy thing product for redistributing or merging partitions.

AVANQUEST PARTITION COMMANDER 10 PROTECTS DATA/OPTIMISES PC.: An article from: GUI Program News Since Partition Magic 8 does not support Vista, I ordered Partition Commander 11. The software download link was never delivered and neither was the CD. I called and they told me they did not have a record of my phone order. I pointed out that my credit card had been charged, and then they told me that I had mis-ordered and that I only ordered a download and extended download time, not a CD, and did not explain why the download link was not deliever. Told me to make a new purchase, and that they would refund my money if I filed a form they would email. They emailed a form for me to certify that I have destroyed the software--which I cannot comply with since I never received it. I also did not get the download link for my new/replacement purchase.I used System Commander for several years, 3 versions of it. At first it was great, but I purchased and did not use System Commander Version 8 since Partition Magic 8 was better at partitioning. Since Symantec has seemingly decided not to upgrade Partition Magic, I had no choice but to order Partition Commander.Under VCom, the predecessor company, the support was better, just like Partition Magic was better under PowerQuest. I don't know why these companies, Symantec and Avanquest bother to acquire these products and then let them die from neglect.Something is fundamentally wrong. At this point, I don't know when they send the product or give me a refund. Beware! I get a lot of junk mail from Avanquest to buy their various products, but when I actaully make the purchase, it is a real hassle.

I need a product that will work with WINDOWS 7 64 bit. In this instance Compatibility with Vista does not maen it works with WIN 7

I tried several other products before this one and none worked. This one did what it said it would do. It took out the small partition on my laptop and merged it with the other larger partition and still left the small backup partition intact. Great product, would recommend to anyone who needs partitions moved, merged, or size changed.

I've had no major problems with this software on Windows XP with a 250 GB SATA drive and two external IDE drives connected to USB ports. There is an erroneous statement in the manual, to the effect that Partition Commander 10 will not work with a RAID 5 disk. That's true only of earlier versions. The tech support staff promptly responded to my query about that. They were pretty good about helping me troubleshoot another problem, which turned out to be unrelated to the program. I give it only 4 stars because I haven't used enough of its features yet to give it an unqualified thumbs up.
