Good Insight but More of an Assessment on Diversity and Values
All in all, this book gives a decent assessment of the trends affecting future workforces with a focus on diversity, inclusion, and being socially responsible. The authors do a great job of describing how the workforce of the future will have a direct impact on the success of any organization. Leaders must put forth the effort to care about both their employees and the issues that are import to them. Organizations must also conduct business in a way that is socially responsible. Failure to do so could mean a decrease in employee engagement, loss of customers, and a negative perception of the organization. The book has nine chapters which are divided into four sections. The sections focus on ensuring your organization is “authentic”, describing the new workforce, having an inclusive organization, and having a “purpose-driven” organization. Many of the chapters use new acronyms, such as WFA (Work from Anywhere). These new concepts and acronyms can make some chapters a little challenging to follow.HBR books in this series conclude each chapter with a succinct summary. This summary section is titled “takeaways “and consists of 2-3 bullets that highlight the chapter. This “Takeaway” feature is a nice touch and does a great job of condensing the chapter in a way that allows the reader to easily digest these complex issues.Bottom Line: this book is a nice overview of those tangential areas that are frequently overlooked but which can have a dramatic impact on all organizations in the future.
