ASTRO Gaming A50 Noise-Isolating Mod Kit - Black

This little "mod kit" is essential if you stream or record gaming videos and don't like being able to hear your own voice clear as day, in addition to every single sound around you. Even with the volume all the way up, you still get a lot of sound from the outside coming through the original ear cups. These, however, nullify about 80% of the sound which is way better. They are extremely comfortable, and even after hours with them on, I haven't noticed them getting any hotter on my ears than any other headset with similar material on the ear cups. Not sure where all those conplaints I saw were coming from.I'm giving this 5 stars, simply because it works as intended and is super comfortable, but I do have to mention that this should most definitely come with a $300 pair of headphones. There is absolutely no excuse for that. There are way cheaper headphones that probably sound better and you don't have to buy anything extra that should have been on the headset in the first place. Unfortunately for me, I need very specific inputs and outputs for my convoluted gaming/streaming setup. If not for that, I would have opted for much cheaper headphones.

Wow, these really add to the punch of the headset. With these easy to replace leather earcups, hearing in-game explosions and gunfire really gives them a bass that resonates and makes the experience of playing so much more enjoyable. With that being said, I feel like they do slightly take away from the ability to accurately distinguish the direction/distance of footsteps because they make the sound stage smaller compared to the meshy earcups that are more open. However, I feel like this could be fixed with some proper adjustments in the Astro Command Center, I'm just not very good at all of that. Your ears do get a little bit warm at times with these on, but that is also the case with many other leather over the ear headphones. Overall, I am very happy with the $40 spent for the added bass and cleaner look. They make the game come to life.

I bought these to replace the original cushions on my A50 Astro’s because my diamond earrings kept snagging and getting caught which could eventually tear both the cushions and earrings up. Taking them in and out often is a hassle and also over time wears out the locking post on the back which could cause you to loose them. Since I game almost daily I bought this hoping it would solve the issue but it did not unfortunately.They are very nice and they do block the outside noise extremely well. They are more comfortable than the original cushions and super easy to replace with the magnetic back. The head piece was a little tough to get out but putting it back in was easy. I’m guessing they left the original material on the inside for better breathability. They are certainly worth the money and I will keep them. They get 4 stars since in my specific case it did not help me at the end of the day which is why I purchased and the photos did not clearly show the inside which was an oversight on the company. Looking back at it again the photos are very dark making the leather and the headsets look aesthetically pleasing to the eye which is why it made me think the leather wrapped to the inside so they only get 4 stars bc of that. I do love my Astros so this doesn’t affect how I feel about the product itself.

Ive been wanting to buy this mod kit forever. But I had the 2nd gen A50’s so I was never able to install them. Well recently my 2nd gen stopped working after many years. I love love loved the A50’s dispite some issues every now and again and ended up buying the 3rd gen A50’s. Finally I could get this mod kit. I wasn’t expecting a huge difference, I just wanted the kit because I like the premium feel of leather and the standard headset got a little warm for me sometimes. I literally just put the mod kit on my headset and WOW. The noise canceling is definitely improved and even more noticeable than before and they feel great. I absolutely would recommend this mod kit to anyone that owns the 3rd gen A50’s. Solid investment into an already pricey headset.

DO NOT BUY, PRODUCT DOES NOT FIT ASTRO A50S. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I just bought Astro A50S from Amazon, Amazon suggested you purchase this with it, and product is NOT compatible with my Astro A50S. You should take this product of the marketplace. I was looking forward to having these. I thought they accidentally sent me the wrong ones, so I returned and got another pair, and they still don’t fit. I’m beyond disappointed.

I had a little extra money to spend so I bought this mod kit for my A50 after reading the reviews. I didn't really think too much about it, it all seemed like a gimmick to me. Like, is it really worth it? Does it really make any difference in sound quality? The answer is... kind of. The leather ear cups are great for cancelling out noise. You'll know what I'm talking about immediately if you put it on and try speaking out loud for yourself. You'll barely be able to hear what you're saying... in a good way. The background noise of my washing machine and dishwasher were completely unnoticeable while I wore this mod kit on my A50s which made it so much easier to hear my enemy's footsteps while playing Black Ops 4's Blackout mode. If your gaming area tends to be noisy and distracting, I strongly recommend this mod kit. Although, and this is my personal preference, I did leave the cloth headband on as I soon realized that leather has a bit of a grip and doesn't glide so easily along my hair which can be slightly discomforting when putting my headset on and taking it off. But it's just that that makes with mod kit so nice, you can easily rearrange the parts to suit what comforts you.
