Q: Is this the same one they sold at Target before they stopped to sell that terrible cheap brand?

Yes, it is! I purchased one at Target several years ago in heather gray. It's the exact same style number N9775. It's one of the most comfortable sports bras I own. I'm very happy to find it at Amazon.

Q: I wear a 36c in bras and normally wear a large (sometimes xl) in sports bras. size chart says i should order a medium, so not sure what to order?

I wear a 34DD and a medium fit me. It cuts in on the sides right under my arm pits a little bit but a large was too big.

Q: I don't see how to remove the cup padding, no opening that I can find, can someone help me find the way?

it's on the inside- completely removable!!

Q: Is the material a cotton feel or more of athletic feel?

It feels like a stretchy cotton, not like a dri-fit material.
