Not a 5-minute job as first thought.
The rods comprising the pole are attached by screw ends that are already in place. I put all of the rods out in line before starting and began to screw them together. This proved to be harder than I imagined as they locked half way in and wouldn't move. As this happened the first time I unscrewed the first with difficulty and tried another rod. this did the same. I tried to join the others and some screwed shut completely but two locked half way. I used WD40 to lubricate the screw ends and eventually got all but one to close. The final one remains open by about 2mm and won't shut even with pliers to add torque. The complete pole took 30 minutes to assemble, and it works but still seems flimsy because it isn't solid metal. It holds 2 bird feeders, and will accommodate domes to baffle squirrels.

Sturdy
Solid item, my fault didn't measure properly but slightly smaller than expected. Looks good and is well made.

Quite sturdy.
One ground spike snapped off whist inserting it in the ground.

Very flimsy
Do not buy! It's poorly made and flimsy. The tubes are only 12mm (1/2 inch) which are far thinner than the one I'm replacing replacing.I tried to screw the poles together and some of them wouldn't tighten (Another review noted a similar problem). Rather than simply sending it back, I managed to fix it by adjusting the various connectors and using some plumbers tape on the screw threads. Even so it's wobbling around in the wind. I think the problem is that there are too many tube sections (5 in total) and the connectors between each are too short to make a sturdy joint. One of the base claws simply snapped off as I was pushing it into the fairly soft ground. All of the others are bent and even though it's not quite vertical, I'm not taking the chance of pulling it out to move it.Very disappointed

Short bird feeder stand
Good quality bird feeder stand but too short so now use it to hold a solar powered light up watering can.

Disappointing
First of all, after a fairly tricky assembly (threads not quite matching up) the whole thing still felt flimsy so I shored it up with duct tape. Easy enough to plant into the ground though.Very sadly, a sparrow got its leg trapped between the top two 'horns' and in its panic, got even more stuck and was found dangling helpless upside down. I managed to rescue it but it flew off with a badly injured leg.Cue more duct tape to close the gap!I do live in quite an exposed rural hilltop area so unfortunately the gales won and the bird feeder blew over and dismantled itself. I have now given up on it.
