This Zigbee smart lock works well.
The media could not be loaded. Got this lock on Saturday Dec. 8th. 2018. 1st thing to remember that if you want a smart lock it HAS TO HAVE ZIGBEE, if you don't want buy an extra hub to control your lock with you Echo. We don't have a hub, we are using our Echo Plus as the hub. And right now alot of these smart locks do not have Zigbee. So your kinda limited on your choices. 2nd it is not very hard to install. Took us more than normal cause our door has a little hitch in it. 3rd code setting is easy. But have a master code in mind if using one already. You don't have to have or use a master code. And then your 4 to 8 digit entry code. Cause if you hesitate for those 5 seconds it won't take the code. But it will remember it. So it won't let you enter the same code again. You have to clear it out and start over again. Which we did and it took the code just fine. One long beep when code is accepted and 3 consecutive beeps if it is not. 4th go to your Alex app and settings and find the new device locks. Kwikset will be listed. Select the lock and it will tell you to press button A on the lock then hit search. Alexa will find the lock. Then your set to use your Echo Plus. If you are using your Echo to unlock the door using the verbal command will need a 4 digit code as well. So have one ready. And enable your whisper mode on Alexa. This helps if you have only 1 Alexa device in your house, so she can hear you better if you are too far away. There is a tiny light that flashes on the back of the lock. This indicates a few things. Yellow means door is locked. Yellow & red means door is locked and your are batteries are low. Green means door is open. Before putting the back cover on the lock, there are 4 little switches. #2 switch if pushed up to "on" enables the 30sec lock, comes in the off position. Which means if you enter your house and don't lock the door right away, the door will automatically lock after 30secs. And if your not by the door you can always ask Alexa to check to see if the door is locked or unlocked and she will tell you. The only downside is I wish this had a flip latch on the top cover where the batteries go. Cause when changing the batteries you have to unscrew the back cover everytime you change the batteries out. And please use the Allen wrench provided and not a Philips screwdriver. Or you will strip the screws. I read that a previous customer used a screwdriver and stripped the Allen screws. It pays to read ALL the instructions when installing any device. Hope this helps anyone wanting to buy this smart lock.

Easy pair/install with Xfinity Home
Just installed this product. I’ve had other Kwikset products so I expect food quality. This lock was fairly easy to install. I didn’t have to do any additional work to my front door for install which I’m sure makes a difference but took the old one off and put this one on. The finishes were good and brand new. Instructions were easy to follow.I have Xfinity/Comcast for my home security/smart home and this paired very easily into my system. I just followed the steps on my Xfinity Home app ( same as with the instructions with the lock). And within 5 min I was able to use the Xfinity app to lock and unlock the door. I was also able to re-key my current key ( previous lock was a newer Kwikset deadbolt and didn’t want to have to get all new keys made). The keying was easy to follow.I like the idea of being able to use a key pad or the app to unlock my door.My only gripe if you will is that it is a little loud when locking/unlocking when letting the automation do the work. When locking by hand it’s not loud at all. It could also sound louder because of the small quarters/hallway could cause an echo but other than that so far so good. Hoping the batteries drain as others have stated isn’t a problem I guess it’s expected of you use the app to lock all the time. By hand might save some battery life. Will update.

Not user friendly
The product beeps all the time and sometimes will not open. We opened it up to check the batteries and they are still new. Now the device will not allow us to program it again. Very frustrating!Update: It never worked. We bought the Wink 2 Hub so that maybe we could see if there was a diagnostic code or get more information as to why this piece of junk was not working. It turns out that Wink does not support the Kwikset 914, so we had to return it and buy the Samsung Things Hub. When we received our hub, we were excited to connect the two. Yeah right. I couldn't get them to connect. We called tech support and they walked us through the troubleshooting procedures. Nothing made the lock work. Kwikset agreed to send us a new lock. I would have bumped up a star for that, but the new lock arrived with equally as many problems. I couldn't get it to go through its lock calibration procedures. Nothing is clearly defined in the instructions and the lock buttons are not intuitive. I went back to reset the system and halfway through the reset, it started going through its calibration. So, we got the lock to lock. Then we tried to connect the Samsung hub. Yeah right. The instructions are not right. There is nothing on the lock that says "hey, here's how you can make me work." It just doesn't do what I purchased it to do. After an hour, I just gave up. I literally hate Kwikset right now. This stupid lock has left my daughter locked out of the house multiple times and chooses when it wants to work. It have NEVER been able to get it to connect to ANYTHING. It is not a Smartcode. It is a dumbcode. Why can't all devices be as easy to setup as Ring. Ring! Make me a lock!

Easy way to add smart lock capabilities to your smart home
This was a great replacement for my existing 20 year old Kwikset lock. I like the ability to rekey the lock without needing to buy new tumblers, you can key this lock to match the others in your house in less than a minute. The smart features work well. I have added locking the door to my "Alexa, goodnight" routine. You can ask Alexa if the door is locked from anywhere, and of course lock it too if you want.I use an echo plus as my hub. Amazon has only provided minimalist features at the moment, so I have to manage codes directly on the lock. As I don't plan to change the combination codes often, this is no big deal, but a property manager or landlord might want to use a hub with better support for all the lock's features.Replacing my old lock was easy, I didn't need to drill anything, the old holes were just fine.

Good quality and easy to install
A nice and handy system in that it has totally made my door locking system mechanical and convinient to use without any hassle of keys involved. Very easy to install as it comes with step by step instructions and can be installed without any technical expertise and hence simply by anyone. Allows to set multiple passcodes makes it a good choice for houses with tenants. One caveat: The advertisement says that it is useable with amazon Alexa but it is only possible to close the lock at this time and not being able to open it. overall a recommended product

Noisy
Very noisy locking system. Very difficult to set up as a smart home lock system.
