Q: What event makes this valve shut off?

When a valve is closed going out of the screw side, it builds up pressure in the screw side, closing a switch and shutting off the other line (without the screws), shutting off water to the membrane, therefore the waste line.

Q: My older shut off valve has two 3/8 and two 1/4 inch fittings. I cannot seem to find a 3/8 quick connect. Any suggestions?

Q: Can this valve be used in a permeate setup

If your RO system has a shut off valve this valve should work just fine.

Q: how many quick connects does this come with? it shows 2 but one would need four

You can connect the 1/4 lines - 2 in + 2 out to the valve directly. I never used the connectors (the 2 shown in Pictures)It came with 2 connectors only though. You might want to buy 2 qty of this, the valve dies every 3-6 month easily. I have already gone through like 5 of these from various sellers
