You can ise these to open or close doors
The manual just talks about closing doors but I’ve used 2 of them for opening a door that wanted to half close.2nd time buying these. They work perfectly. Adjust the spring tension to just what you need.

1 is enough to close light doors.
1 is enough to close light doors. Before buying pay attention to size and roundness of corners

Easy To Install, Good Value, Good Quality
I have a basement door that always swings open, due to the door jamb not being plumb. I need the door to keep nearly closed but not entirely closed, as our cat needs to be able to go to the basement for its litter box. With these hinges, I was able to install both of them and adjust them to have just enough tension to slowly pull the door nearly closed.Installing is easy, if you have a standard American-style factory-hung door, as most of them have 3-inch hinges with 5/8-inch rounded corners. The screw holes align perfectly to those standard hinge’s holes. It’s just a matter of removing the old hinges, one-at-a-time, and installing these instead. It comes with self-tapping brass screws that are a bit beefier than typical hinge screws, giving it good holding capability.Once installed, use the provided Allen wrench to adjust the tension at the top of the hinge and insert a locking pin to hold the position. You can increase the tension to meet your specific needs — apply very little closing force, medium force, or even slam the door shut. The instructions state to not go beyond four adjustment holes per hinge. So, that gives you up to 9 different tension settings with the two hinges; from no tension to both hinges on position 4. If you need to adjust, use a small magnet (I used a magnetized screw driver tip) to pull the locking pin out of its hole, re-adjust the tension, and re-insert the pin.The hinges seem to be of very good quality and a nice finish — a lot nicer than the hinges they replaced!Overall, I am very happy with these hinges, as they solved a challenge for us at a very good cost.Good luck!
