Script for a Jester's Tear (2020 Stereo Remix)

after a recent Marillion rebirth in my CD collection I'm now aquiring the full back catalogue of the 'early' (the best years in my opinion - sorry Steve H) albums. I'm regretting not buying this on vinyl back in the day now, as I've aged I feel I've come to appreciate artists like Marillion much more than I did when I was in my late teens to 20's when I just listened to ear thrashing metal! - I still do occasionally, but I've definitely mellowed in my 50's, & am swaying towards more prog rock like these guys, ELP, & Yes etc... This is a great album - its the 2020 remix. Each track now full on & beefy, 6 tracks of pure Marilliance! along with Script ForA Jesters Tear. Its such a shame Mr. Dick has now retired though.

5 stars for the music but....... no packaging... not even apaper envelope. just the address label stuck straight onto the LP shrinkwrap.So now I have a, albeit minimally, corner damaged sleeve and a split inner sleeve. I expect better from Amazon but sadly seems to be the level of service recently.At least the vinyl is perfect and plays well

This is classic Marillion, not to everyone’s taste and certainly very self indulgent but it is my favourite album by the band. Brought back memories of seeing them at Lancaster University in the early 1980s. The cover art work is excellent and the vinyl quality is good.

The recording and pressing is excellent, however the remix is not as good as the original, if you can find the original recording get that one, not sure why people have to change something that's perfect anyway!

Those re editions are really great, good sound, good art cover.

The biggest issue with albums prior to the 1990s [or so] was the mix of the album.Unlike modern music with everything is probably mixed digitally, recording an album then was quite more difficult as you had multiple takes, sometimes over-dubbing. This is when mistakes occurred.This is Marillion's debut album [they had an EP prior on vinyl], and the album was remixed in 2020 for this 2021 release.Still some of their best early music and probably ranks in the top 5 of 19 [as of 2021] studio albums.The only thing I still don't care was the script [!] [or font] used.
