Interesting read.
Well written and easy to follow. Thankfully not pushing Veganism but more of an approach that can suit everyone’s dietary preferences - but just with lots more plants! Easy to read science about gut micro biomes and their importance to our overall health. I had already started on trying to sort out my (and families) diet and include more fruit/veg and improve nutrition and feel that this book has lots of tips to improve things much further. Some lovely recipes which I am looking forward to trying (especially sweet treats as I have a terrible sweet tooth!). A few recipes which look good include tofu (which I hate) so I would have liked an alternative suggestion to tofu (so I may have to just creative) but overall a good read and a book I think I will keep returning to.

Probably the best "diet" book I've ever bought
First off, this is not a "diet" book in the lose-weight sense of the word. There's no calorie counting or replacing meals with shakes. Nor is it a vegan or vegetarian, or any other kind of cookbook. It's also not written by the latest influencer jumping on the plant-based bandwagon. This is a book, written by a qualified and experienced doctor and nutritionist and is about what you eat and how it affects your body and how increasing the number of different things that you eat can improve your health. It's not about completely cutting out meat, although the focus is on increasing the amount of plant material in your diet. It's about giving your gut microbiome more to work with. If you want to make a formula 1 car and you only give your mechanics cast iron to make it from, you're going to get a pretty poor performing car. If you give them carbon fibre and stuff, you can expect a much better outcome. The same is true for your body; if you give your mechanics (your gut bacteria) pizza, crisps and coke to work with, you shouldn't be surprised if you end up with a body that's full of fat and deficient in multiple key vitamins and minerals. But it's easy to add more of the useful stuff with this book; just chuck in some nuts, seeds, berries, or wholegrains and your microbiome has much better material to maintain your body with. We've tried over half of the recipes in this book and so far there's only been one that we probably won't make again. The rest have been delicious which is marked difference to the other healthy eating books I've bought in the past and all the recipes are easily tweakable. I don't think I'll buy another book like this; I don't think I need to. This book could genuinely change your life. I'm already feeling the benefits. Highly recommended.

Review from gift giver
I bought this book for a friend, I will add her thoughts on it at a later date once she's had some time to read it and use it.I had originally bought two, as I wanted to gift it to someone else. But the print quality was terrible so I decided to return the second one. If you're paying £15 for a book, you don't want the printer to have had a bad day.

Depressing New Year, restrictive, deprive yourself diets? This is the opposite!
This radiant, glossy, healthy-looking lady is a pretty good poster-girl for what she advocates: adding in as many different plants to your way of eating as you can! She writes in totally easy-to-understand language, and though what she says is completely based on the latest scientific research, ( important to me), you don’t feel like you need a degree to ‘get it’! You can even just skip straight on to the lovely recipes if you want. Personally, I really enjoy knowing the ‘why’ of things, and enjoyed reading and learning about that, but there are lots of easy to take in quick ‘summaries’ and helpful pictures for the time-challenged. Who doesn’t desire greater health, and a better immune system, especially these days? So many respected experts have made the link between those things and a healthy ‘gut’, and this book gets you straight to the point. Best of all, it’s totally do-able! Nothing weird or wacky! Megan also understands the things or misunderstandings that might be putting you off or holding you back from giving all this a go, and chats you through it.I particularly appreciate the ‘snacks’ as I like to treat myself, my family and my little grandkids with something that hits the ‘treat’ spot but is nutritious!Really can’t recommend this book or this lady enough!

Very good, possibly slightly impractical long term?
Having just recovered from a particularly painful month of colitis, something had to change.I did a lot of research, including reading a lot of the reviews for numerous books and plumped for this one and the Clare Bailey book, The Clever Guts Diet Recipe Book. I’m so glad I did.; I used the Bailey book as my starting point and layered on top the plant-focus from Rossi, in just a few days the improvement is startling, for which I am very grateful.Although not quite as easy to use as Bailey, the recipes are clear to read, although occasionally over complicated, the photos of the food are good too. I’m not sure exactly how practical 30 different plants a week will turn out to be, other than very expensive, and that I think is the main flaw with this concept. However, the concept is easy to follow and although there are only a very few recipes featuring chicken/fish, I think it will be easy to layer into the other system; I’m hoping to getas close to 30 plants a week as I can get without breaking the bank..I have rated the book 4 stars, because of all the above; even so I would still recommend this book to all wishing to improve their health and well-being.
