St. Joseph Sunday Missal Prayerbook and Hymnal for 2022 (American)

Perhaps you can't attend Mass because of the pandemic. Perhaps you can't attend because you're homebound. Perhaps you choose not to attend. This missal makes for a great (albeit imperfect) substitute to read on Sunday mornings during the time you would otherwise be attending Mass, or even read along if you are watching a Mass online.This is not a large book -- it's compact, even though it is 672 pages long -- and has a sturdy and beautifully pictured cover. And you know what -- perhaps you are attending Mass. You may find that this missal can be easily carried to church, placed in a handbag, or maybe even carried in a gentleman's back pocket.The price can't be beat, for there is a lot packed into this little volume. In its first section it covers the complete Order of the Mass, the Introductory Rites, the Liturgy of the Word, the Eucharistic prayers, the Communion Rite, prefaces, and solemn blessings. Then, of course, the particular Sunday Masses (and Holy days), with the scriptural readings, responsorial psalms, communion antiphons, etc. There are also 84 hymns (three fewer than last year's edition), many with musical notation, a guide to pastoral help, several additional prayers, the Stations of the Cross, the Scriptural Way of the Cross, the four Mysteries of the Rosary. The Rite of Penance, with all the steps, prayers of contrition, and suggested forms for the examination of conscience, has been dropped from this edition. And NOTE: Although it says 2022, this book begins (as have others in the past, of course) with the first Sunday of Advent, which is on November 28th this year, 2021, and goes through the last Sunday of Ordinary Time, on November 20, 2022.The Catholic Book Publishing Co. still does a fine job with this one.

This is so much more than I expected! I thought I would get a 'pamphlet-like' book, that is in the pews for parishioners use. It was such a pleasant surprise! (They may have the correct dimensions in their article, and I j ust didn't read it...) It is a lovely little 'regular' paper back book -- only smaller in inches than most. It is a little larger than 3x5 inches, a little more than 1 inch thick, bound as a 'regular' store-bought paper-back book, and with a beautiful 'finished' cover. AND with all the wonderful extra music sheets (notes and words), little photos for each mystery of the Rosary, lists of the works of mercy and the 10 Commandments, and even includes guidelines for communion! God bless the editors, the company who is offering these on Amazon at such an awesome price, and for any/all who worked on its production! Buy one! a wonderful treasure!

With COVID-19 in the air it is satisfying to know 20 people didn't touch a Missalette before you did. It's a nice compact size with a years worth of Sundays, Holy days, prayers and songs.

I keep this by my bedside, and can carry it to Mass (when not in lockdown). During the pandemic, I was able to follow the liturgical year with my copy, even while not being able to attend Mass in our church. (It is small enough to carry in an handbag, as well.). I now look forward to ordering my own personal copy every year, so I always have the current liturgical year edition on hand.

The missal is easy to use and follow the Sunday Catholic mass. Since the mass readings follow a three-year cycle, you need to purchase a new edition for each of three years. Not a problem - the missal is quite inexpensive. This year was my third.

1 year of Catholic Mass schedule. Can read before Church and know what prayers and versus will be said. Many prayers listed in one area for reference. Easy to follow.

If you are looking for daily mass readings, etc. then this missal isn't for you, but if you are looking for a missal that has all the Holy Days of Obligation and Sunday Mass readings, etc. then it is perfect. Small and compact, so easy to carry and print is easy to read.
