Stitches and Pins: A Beginning Sewing Book for Girls Spiral-bound – March 22, 2002

I've read through the book and am planning on using it to teach one of my granddaughters to sew with it. Some of the projects are a little dated, but the sewing instructions are great. I have know how to sew forever, but I didn't know how to teach someone else the basics. This book will give us lots of things to work on together. A friend sent me information about this book, and I am very glad she did. I will update this review after I have had a chance to teach my grand some.

I am a sewer and wanted to teach my grand-daughters how to sew, ages 11 and 13. I bought a couple of easy patterns; then ran across this book through a friend. This is absolutely the "BEST" book for teaching beginning sewing. My friend has used the patterns in this book and said they were good. I only used the potholder. It was great for initial exposure to quilting. I've made many things myself from clothes to purses, hats, coats, stuffed animals, curtains, slip covers for furniture, doll clothes...you name it. This is a book I'd recommend to anyone who wants a tool to assist in teaching others.

Good reference book; has lots of good basic definitions and instructions for beginning sewers. I used it as a guideline for a sewing curriculum for my daughter. One pattern in the book is corrected on the website. I prefer to use this book as an outline rather than use her patterns.

The book itself is fine. I purchased a used copy and the patterns were not included. It was not noted in the description, but for the price, I won’t complain.

This is a beginner book for sewing, but I was disappointed in so few projects inside of it. I like Grogan's Intermediate book better. I feel that this beginner book is almost too "beginner". I think it could have more sewing activities in it. Her instructions are great, but just needs a little more content on this book! I would recommend even using some of her Intermediate book for beginners or at least advanced beginners.

Easy to follow instructions.

I purchased this for my granddaughter when she was younger. She used this a lot and uses it now. The information was useful to her and it was well presented.

Whether novice at sewing or teaching sewing this is an excellent resource. Good information, illustrations, and patterns. All are included,
