I read this cover to cover, as there is more then just load data. MASSIVE amount of info in here.
I am so glad I got this book. I have since purchased other load data building books to add to the brand or collection of useful information. This book is exceptionally well assembled, perfectly colored in the photos. easy to read. For a first time loader, I read this cover to cover, and explained everything well enough to get me started, and I am so glad I spent the money to buy this, which is affordable or cost effective. Book is well organized by pistol and rifle loading or by calibers, small to large, for each section. each caliber, has its own intro or history of who an what and why the caliber is what it is. I loved learning about that info. some dating back almost a hundred years. Which that given info, then allows you to hit the net to learn even further, by looking up the author / designer / company of the caliber. Allot of fun.

A good resource for novice and experienced reloader alike.
As a novice reloader, I appreciated the introductory material such as the chart of how much of a pressure and velocity difference is produced by using different brands of primers. While there are techniques such as how to customize bullet seating depth and C.O.A.L. for a particular firearm that are not covered, on balance the presentation provides a solid starting place for the novice -- and I suspect is a good reference for more experienced reloaders. I find the Lyman book to be more user friendly and valuable than other handbooks such as the Nosler guide. The format provides vendor-agnostic coverage of a range of powders and bullets in a concise fashion, and a notation of the most accurate powders and loads for each. In terms of criticism, it would be helpful if the data included how much case volume was filled by each powder load (a factor in accuracy), and I suspect that if you are reloading for military surplus weapons you will find the relatively sparse coverage of the heavier end of the bullet weight spectrum only marginally helpful in trying to replicate military-issue loads. The current edition also omits firearms such as the 6.5 and 7.7mm Japanese Arisaka military rifles for which reloading is frequently the only option.

Every Reloading Bench Should Have This Manual
This is a really nice manual to add to your collection of reloading manuals. (It's important to have multiple, particularly where load data is concerned because there are slight differences among manuals.)For a reloader who really wants to know all of the best practices, all of the pitfalls to avoid, and how to approach reloading in a clear step-by-step way, this is a great book to have. The first day I had it, I learned some details on some things that I didn't know, (nothing critical - just good information to have) and I've been doing this a while. There's also a very nice section that describes almost all of the powders by the brands most commonly available - Alliant, Hodgdon, Accurate, IMR, Ramshot, Winchester, VihitaVuori. Just short descriptions that talk about burn rate, and best applications.I got the hardback version of this book (it comes as a paperback too) and oddly, at the time of purchase, the hardback was a couple bucks less.

Where’s the copper?
Received my Lyman book the other day and it’s really nice, but I have to take issue with one thing. I can’t find any stats on loading copper bullets!? I live and hunt in California and as you know, you have to use copper bullets to hunt with ( if you can find any). You might think that copper bullets and lead bullets load the same but not true. are longer than lead because material is lighter so in some cases, a longer bullet could quite possibly work with a different twist. It’s already hard enough to find copper bullets for hunting purposes, and seems like no one is writing about copper bullet loads. Of course I just crawled out from a rock (fell off a turnip truck) does anyone know of a reloading book that has loads for copper? Well I still like the book but I am going to buy the Lee book and the Hornady book too.

Good resource, terrible packaging.
Lyman is, well Lyman. No quibbles with the content or presentation. However, the packaging was sub-standard. The book was shrink wrapped and placed in a minimally padded envelope; it should have been boxed, not bagged. It arrived with every corner damaged. When I buy a new book, I expect it to be undamaged. Not in this case. Given that it arrived in Amazon-branded packaging I place the ownership of this failure firmly on Amazon's shoulders. Stars lost for quality based on this experience.

Detailed book to learn reloading
I own many reloading handbook, and this is by far the more extensive! Well explained, better than the Hornady to me, which is more a brand seller than a book for learning reloading.
