Cap Barbell 47-Inch Standard Solid E-Z Curl Bar

I received the wrong bar, I got a bar that had screw ends, which made the spring clamps that was in the add-ons that i bought with the order useless. The bar seems fine, but its not what was described

I returned it. Was a solid build but the diameter was slightly smaller than a standard bar normally is. Standard spring clips that fit every bar I have just slide off and don't hold. If I tilt the bar the weights just slide off as the standard clamps won't work.

Using this bar I curl 5 to 7½ lbs. more than I curl with a straight bar. The bar is strong, easy to hold, and the price is good. Note that the diameter is 1" and not 2". Two-inch disks that are used with an "Olympic" bar will not fit. Also, you need 2 clips or clamps that are 1" and not 2". These are not included. The ends of the bar are not threaded for the screw-on type of clamp.

I bought the black powder coated bar, and it is really nice. The knarling isn't too rough at all, and my clamps fit right on it with no problems. I've read some reviews of the chrome bar flaking, and that's why I wanted the black powder coat, as I've had expirience with this before and found the black powder coat superior. Very nice bar.

I have both this bar and the other straight bar of the same brand. I use this for bicep curling and overhead shoulder press only (can probably do bent-over rows too, but mostly prefer to use straight bar for that). I like it a lot.The grooves help with the grip and consistent hand placement:For shoulder press, the placement helps with keeping my elbows in check so it doesn't stick outward so much.For Bicep Curls, it is easier on the wrist because the grooves allow you to hold them with hands more supinated.

The bar itself weighs somewhere between 10-12 lbs. Its not as wide as most bars, which is good for people with limited space. If you have especially wide shoulders / long arms it may be a bit cramped for you. Unlike some other reviewers, the clamps I had didnt have any problems holding on the weights.

I like this E-Z Curl bar because it feels right when holding it in the various hand positions. The chrome plate is pretty average, and no flaking or bad spots were found. The knurling is deep and coarse giving a good grip. I like the hand positions, they are comfortable and not extreme or funky like some other bars. The smooth ends are a blessing when it comes to changing weights. Those bars with the threaded ends waste my time. Smooth bars the collar slides on and a twist locks it in place. Simple and no spinning a locking nut like the other bars. All in all, its a great bar for the price.
