Long winded. Too idolizing for my liking
I totally agree with Greg Perry’s comments. I bought the book believing it would tell me if the last 3 days of his presidency and the transition of those two governments instead I get a lot of baloney about Eisenhower. I hate the man and I could read a thousand books about him and still hate him. The whole book was about his life with 2 or 3 mentions of the last speech with a transcript of that speech at the very end. A disappointing waste of my time and money. I won’t be buying any more Brett Baier books.

Eisenhower getting some due credit
Bret Baier has taken a slice out of the history of our 34th president and provided a book with a timeless message. Eisenhower didn't play to the media and didn't have a polished manner in his presentations. He was grossly underestimated until scholars begin to review the substance of his speeches and his accomplishments as a president. This book helps to elevate Eisenhower to his proper level. Baier says Eisenhower was concerned about Kennedy's approach to decision making in dismantling organizations to streamline the process. Kissinger in "White House Years" says the same looking back at Kennedy and Johnson. That the decision process was totally ad hoc without organization and procedures to ensure participation by all essential parties. It appears the Bay of Pigs which set the stage for the Cuban Missile Crisis did not result in a more structured process.

Dwight Eisenhower wisdom
I learned alot from this book about the wisdom and knowledge of President Eisenhower. He brought the wisdom of being a general in the army to the presidency which helped him be the President of peace.I also learned of his help to President Kennedy with Khrushchev over the failed Bay of Pigs and the Cudan Missile crisis.
