These boots are great. I needed a strong boot with a stiff sole as I have arthritis in my toe but they also needed to be comfortable and waterproof for long wet walks. I did not buy these to ride in but more for general wet and muddy use, but I may occasionally use them for riding. They are narrow enough to fit a stirrup and the bonus of that is they don't look clumpy when you wear them with jeans.The sole is firm like a hiking boot but the insole is fabulous - it is thickly padded and feels so comfortable. The leather of the boot is pretty firm but it is well padded around the heel area. I am wearing the boots for a short time each day and they are getting better all the time. I think (hope!) these are the kind of boots that will last years and get better and better but I certainly have had to wear them in - as I say not in bad way. One minor complaint is that the zip slides down little bit as you walk as there is no way to secure it at the top. It is not a problem though as the zip finds the place that you need it to be for your ankle to bend.Size wise I think these boots are a bit on the large side. I take a 6.5 normally and this is often difficult to find. I ordered 6.5 and they are generous when wearing thin socks but fine with thicker ones. They are roomy at the front where your toes are but I would not say the boots were wide fitting. I probably could have worn a 6 though. To get an idea of the fit try wearing your hiking boots with a thin sock. The boots came from Germany and I was a bit worried about the delivery - it did take a bit longer than usual for Amazon but it was near Christmas so that is more than likely the reason. Amazon kept me up to date with the delivery date and that arrived well before the due date - with an email to warn me they were coming.

These boots are so comfortable and so easy to break in they fit exactly the same as the guide says keep all the water out and feet warm amazing for walking and riding in

Second pair I've bought. 1st pair lasted 3 years and I wore them a lot as work with horses. Good for dog walking as well ! Waterproof and strong. For me very comfortable. Ariat shoes seem to come up sightly small. Bought 4 1/2 instead of 5.

I really like these walking shoes. Only warn a few times so need wearing in a bit. Very good quality. Think they will be better in winter as a little bigger than expected, I need thick socks on to stop movement. Ordered 5.5 as that's my size. Think a 5 would be too tight. They feel very sturdy and good non slip soles. I would recommend these boots.

Comfortable

this is the third pair of Ariat boots that i have owned, they are exactly as advertised comfortable water proof and well fitting.

Have only worn these boots a handful of times as I wear wellies when wet, and the sole is separating from the boot already. I have tried to contact the supplier but no response….. shame

This is my second pair of Ariat Terrain Zip boots. Obviously I love them.

I purchased these right before leaving on a 3 week horse trek in Mongolia. I did not have a chance to break them in, but they were perfect. I paired them with Ovation Women's Precision Fit Suede Half Chaps. They kept my feet dry in wet grass, and in some really soaking rain/hail storms. I did not get any rubs from them at all. I even wore them around camp, on a 3 hour hike to a summit and throughout my 30 hour travel each way to-from Mongolia. They pair nicely with decent pants, are great to ride in and will work well for moderate hiking. Another lady on the trip also bought these boots and had a positive experience with them as well. Super pleased with them!

A really good boot. Very good looking. Fits beautifully and was comfortable the first outing. It's not so great on ice, but snow, excellent. I'm very, very happy.

I have bought Ariat products prior and knew these were a "no-brainer". I usually have to try shoes on, but I have a pair of Ariat paddock boots (12yrs old) and still going strong, so I wasn't concerned that I would have to return these for a different size. (I hate returning stuff.)They were a little snug initially, but by day three already felt broke in, very comfortable. They look great, very stylish. As I've gotten older I've had to buy better shoes (no Pay-less or WalMart!) With better shoes comes a higher $, but these are well-made and my feet feel great after a day of walking, standing. Worth the price, and I know these will last a long, long time. (And still look great!)
