With approximately a dozen surge Beys, and more than a hundred total now in our collection, our kids really wanted this one. It looked like a good one, and since Devolos is a main Bey, I was fine buying it. I really wanted to give this 5 stars. I think the Bey looks super cool, and my kids really liked the design, which was why we got it in the first place. In reality though, I just couldn’t justify giving it 5 stars. Maybe 4.5 but not 5. The main good thing here is the forge disk. 1B is amazing. So good. Right now 1B is difficult to come by. This is really the main reason to buy this right now in my opinion, and it might make it worth the purchase all on its own. It has a good weight to it and it is a great attack type forge disk. Really competitive. The “slopes” of the energy layer that hold the Beyblade together are okay. They are fine. It is sometimes prone to bursting, does not matter what performance tip you use, but it’s okay and actually holds its own. My kids used this a lot at the beginning, and it now gets use sporadically. My kiddo who really likes Devolos mainly went back to using Erase Devolos a bunch - just adds the new forge disk but uses this too. The performance tip is common, and isn’t a very good one at that. Most Surge performance tips aren’t great, but this is one of the worst, so don’t buy it for that. Lastly, I know they package launchers with the Beys they think people gravitate towards - the ones that are popular Beys, but this could have been a single or double like in the past, without a launcher. Especially since these launchers are worse in my opinion compared to the old orange and white ones. That alone might have made me give it 5 stars because I really like the forge disk and it still looks neat. As I’ve said a bunch, the kids use the forge disk all the time. So good. If they had made the slopes better or sold it without the launcher this would be a must have, even with the weak performance tip. Even so, I still am glad I bought it.
