If you're only interested in the text, you can probably find a cheaper edition, but this is filled to the brim with gorgeous artwork, and it's a pleasure to own.

The version of the book with the same cover as the on in the photos is a print of a PDF of a scan of the actual book.
EDIT: Note that this is not a review of the book. I have bought the actual book. Just don't buy the book that has the same front cover as in the photos.Returning! Like the other one star reviews, I too got a copy that seems to be a hardcover print of a PDF of a scan of the actual book from the University of Toronto. Some pages have such poor contrast that it's hard to read, other pages have things obscuring the page apparently from scanning the book (see photo). It feels like a scam, someone is making money off of selling a hardcover print of a scanned copy of the book. Save your money or buy a real reprint instead.

Great gift for a Chicago resident!
This was a gift for our son- he loved it! He has lived in Chicago for a few years and really wants to understand the history of that great city!

Bring your magnifying glass because the print was reprinted very, very tiny
This is not the worst reproduction of a historic book I've seen, but it's nowhere near Dover Publications quality. The text is absolutely tiny. It's clear the original book was much larger. The photographs are reasonably clear but small. There are some strangely blank pages with only a sliver of an image. Clearly whomever put this reproduction together didn't take the time to look at the details. Includes things like the library stamps and other artifacts of the actual book it was copied from. Fine for reading but not good enough to use images for research.

it's a copy from the library in Toronto University, not a real published book
The one I got is a hard copy of the real published book from the library in Toronto University cos I even can see the stamp of Toronto University in the book I got. It' a fake and I think it's a kind of steal.
