Diamond Kitchen Matches have not changed much over the years. The current Greenlight version with its green tip, replaced the Diamond matches of the past with their red tip as the green tip is supposedly safer for the environment. The new version is a thinner match, so has a slightly quicker burn time. The green matches are still pretty easy to light, though the two green matches I lit today each took two strikes on the new box before they lit (compared to the old red match, which lit on its first strike today using its worn striker on the old box). The striker has gotten smaller than it was in the past, so I am hoping it holds up as well, as the the number of matches per box has increased from 250 per box in the past to 300 now.Overall, there is very little difference between the Diamond match of old and the Diamond Greenlight match of today. However, the thicker match does feel sturdier in your hand to strike and less likely to break, so safer for the user overall, if not safer for the environment, and I am not sure that is a good trade off to make.
