Better off asking your 9 year old niece to make you one out of leftover blankie fleece.
I don’t understand all the good reviews. Maybe this item used to be better?? The one I got is pretty useless. It is pretty thin fleece, not thick enough to cut out much wind or cold. Not particularly sewn well either. Looks like something a kids club made with left overs of that crappy blanket fleece that everyone was obsessed with for a while. But the thing I really dislike about it is the fit. It’s very awkward. The inner part that is supposed to cover your mouth is not really deep enough. but worse than that IT IS JUST A PIECE OF FOLDED OVER FLEECE, and VERY LOOSE around the neck and chin - and don’t think for a minute it will stay up over your nose if that’s what you are hoping. It wouldn’t stay up over my mouth unless I tied the hood part super tight, the problem with that is the TIE CUTS straight ACROSS MY MOUTH, not under my chin, and I have a small head! ( there is a reason there no photos of this thing tied. ) For the hood to be tied tight enough to keep the hood up, closed and keep the wind from just whipping in around your ears you have to make it so the opening is just a little hole. I could barely see, AND it still wasn’t very warm. Plus that makes the inner part bunch up and rub on my mouth and my chin. I fiddled with this thing for an hour and I don’t see the point. Would have been easier and warmer with a plain old hat and scarf. I didn’t expect top quality for the price but this is just a waste of money. Maybe if you have a giant head and only want something over your neck and head on a mildly cold day - maybe it will work out for you. And this is just a sidebar but maybe the seller with see it: Included in the package was a card drawn by the company owner’s 3 year old - cute - saying thank you and stating this is a family owned company - just him and his 3 year old of which there is a photo, to really tug at your heart strings - and they are asking for a good review to help them do well. I would have LOVED to give a good review. I’m all about family run American companies, but this is just more made-in-China crap being distributed by a middle man. If he wants to have a successful business he should be asking for HONEST reviews and improve his supply.

It really keeps me warm when it’s cold outside
Living in the California, the weather doesn’t get really cold most of the time in winter, but I bought this fleece hood for me to walk the dog in the cold mornings and nights. I live in a gated community, so most of the time I don’t run into lots of neighbors at once when I walk my dog, but I still try my best to cover my mouth if possible during this pandemic. Then I came across this fleece hood. I get to cover my face, ears, and neck and keep myself warm all at the same time. The most thing I love about this hood is it really keeps my head and face warm and it’s wind proof. The down side about the hood is the face covering part is a bit loose and it causes my glass fog up easier. I still wear it when it’s freezing and windy outside. I really love the fact that it keeps my ears, face and neck warm when it’s freezing outside.

Walking in subzero temperatures not a problem
I needed something to complete my winter gear. I have a coat, gloves and thermals that work for the nasty Midwestern cold, but when my face was uncovered in negative degree weather, I found my nose started to freeze.I tried to find a nice, heavy ski mask that would do the job and save my nose from frostbite. Some had a mixed reviews so I looked for the heaviest option and landed on this one.I was very, very satisfied with this balaclava! It definitely keeps me warm walking in subzero temperatures, very easily. It's actually more than warm enough for that; sometimes I pull the front down because I don't need it all the time. I think this would be a good option for those who have to stand around in the cold all day without being able to walk around, like security guards.I'd recommend this for anyone in the Chicago area or north of us. It's super warm, and easy to wear under the hood of your regular jacket for ultimate warmth. I can roll it up and store it inside a coat pocket when I'm not using it. You'll need a nice big pocket for that though. It's pretty thick when it's rolled up.It still hasn't gotten as cold as it can get here, so I haven't out it through the worst possible test yet, but since it can actually be more than warm enough for -10 degree windchill I'm confident I don't need to look for anything extra. Now, normally I wear glasses. However, I knew this wouldn't work with a ski mask, especially not when it's that cold. In those temps, any slight amount of breath will condense on your glasses. The air is just too dry and my glasses are too cold. So I wasn't surprised that my glasses don't work well with this. That's not a problem for me, which is good, because I don't know of a foolproof way to fix this. Maybe ski goggles? I've never worn ski goggles, but I could see that working.I highly recommend this balaclava! And I almost forgot the most important part of wearing this great ski mask: it makes me look like a ninja.

Really nice except for the eyelets
I work outside in the mountains so it's always good to have an item such as this to keep you a bit more comfortable. I really liked it has 2 neck layers. I can put one inside my shirt the other over it and under my coat. It's really soft and warm. You can also put your head through the face opening and it's really thick and soft around your neck like a scarf. Drawstrings are a must to close out as much of the cold as possible. Only thing I didn't like was the metal eyelets around the drawstrings were caked with rust when it arrived. I originally got one of these for my grand daughter in New York, she is tiny and hates the cold so I ordered one for me as I'm 2000 miles away and want to make sure she gets nice things. I was worried about rusty steel around her neck and tetanus but I would expect most people would feel the same. I immediately contacted her mother with my concerns and her item had no rust on the eyelets. I don't worry about myself as there is a layer between the eyelets and your neck however children have a way of generating mischief. That is my only concern, other than that it is great for the price. I will see how it holds up and I would wonder about washing it. They should have used brass or aluminum but for what it's worth I'm happy that I got the bad one and she is a happy little hiker in the cold now.
