So I’m guessing this does not work for car radios

This microphone is omni-directional, meaning it picks up sound from all directions equally. Although it will work as a microphone for many applications that use an 1/8" mono connector, it is not ideal for voice applications. It is also incorrect for Alpine car systems that came with an Audyssey microphone. Those used an earlier version that is the same shape, but has different characteristics. This mic may still work reasonably well for those systems, but it is recommended to source an original ACM1 (no longer produced or available for sale from Audyssey).

Will this work on the onkyo tx-sr604?

I believe the 604 is early 2000s (2006/2007) and used the original flat hockey puck style mic, so this tower style mic is most likely not compatible and won't work as it uses a different calibration file than does the hockey puck mic. However, you can buy the correct mic MIC-5000 (#1B068MIC) from Onkyo directly. Just go to their site and enter the model number TX-SR604.

The Onkyo TX-NR676 is not compatible with this microphone as it does not have Audyssey MultEQ room correction. This microphone may function in certain respects, but is not correct.

If the electronics are the same as Denon or Marantz then yes.
