Another page-turner
I really enjoy this series and this one is another great read. Kieron Juniper is about to come out as the 1st openly gay footballer in the premier league when he is suddenly murdered, his car brakes having been cut.Edward and Noah are once again determined to get to the bottom of things, this time assisted by local reporter Fiona Turtle. As usual, there are lots of twists and plenty of laughs with Noah's constant precise and unfiltered comments. Despite the light natured and cozy story, this does tackle important issues such as homophobia, racism and the shallowness of people in general and not just those in the public eye.I thoroughly look forward to reading about more of Edward and Noah's investigations.

So just why would a successful and well respected football captain drive off a cliff?
This was the first of the Edward Crisp mysteries I read and quite frankly, I was on the verge of regretting it. However, there is something about the way Boon tells the story. I read the whole thing in a day and promptly ordered the other three.Centred around the improbably dangers Chalk Gap, nestling along the coast from Beachy Head, “Death in the Closet” tells of a hugely successful local football team. All is not well in the dressing room, though, and it’s not just the unpleasant and intimidating PR manager. The captain and all-round hero drives to his death at the foot of the famous cliff and it takes the gauche, but by now respected, amateur sleuth, Edward Crisp, and his autistic side kick, Noah, to unravel a disturbing murder. This like the other stories are exploitative and derivative, and the writing is appalling. But it’s a page turner.

Another light and enjoyable mystery!
Where there are WAGs there's always a scandal of some sort... but deadly hmm. How will our our slightly reluctant sleuth Edward and his eager sidekick Noah solve this one, when there are just so many suspects anđ so many secrets flying around? Are they finally out of their depths? Was it really just simply suicide due to the release of a secret that could affect too many others?

LOVED IT
Absolutely loved this book! I read it on the day it was released and thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are believable and you can visualise them all in your head, as well as the little village and the pub. There are plenty of red herrings within the book and you just want to read as fast as you can to find out who it is....but when you do get to the end of the book it’s disappointing that you’ve finished it and you want to just read more.Like all of Peter’s books, they feel beautiful and have lovely thick paper. To some people that wouldn't matter, but to a nerd like me....it does! It shows that the author actually cares about the quality! Oh and the brightness of the front cover is simply fab too.The subject of the book is also close to my heart as I absolutely despise homophobic behaviour!! People should be allowed to love who they love without feeling ashamed!So......If you want a quick but thoroughly enjoyable read I would recommend this book! Thank you Peter and I can’t wait for your next one 🤓🤓🥰

The best yet
My favourite characters return and develop themselves in new ways, this is always a great pleasure in a series , and I was not disappointed. A decent amount of clues allows at least a narrowing -down of suspects, the style now includes snippets from various media, which I found added even more relatability. A serious message about a subject that should indeed be no big deal, this book should be on the KS4 curriculum, except that I now loathe all the books I was forced to dissect, and it would be a shame if that happened to Edward et al. Loved the fashion element too, but as ever the direct honesty of Noah is the most refreshing thing about the books. Please write more very soon.

Great book but the cover was peeling
The story was great. The protective coat did peel of and rip the cover though. I’m probably not going to read it again so it doesn’t really matter

A must read
This book really struck a chord with me my cousin came out 40 years ago and she and her partner had to put up with a lot and approximately 20 years ago my wonderful nephew came out it took immense courage for him to tell us something we knew but felt it was for him to inform us my cousin and my nephew have had long and loving partnerships and we love them as dearly now as we did before well done a great story with a story that needs to be told
