A Sleek, Smart Kitchen Upgrade!
The media could not be loaded. I absolutely love the HOTO Smart Food Scale! It’s been a total game-changer in my kitchen. First off, the design is modern and minimal—super sleek and compact, which means it doesn’t take up much counter space and looks great sitting out. What really sets this scale apart is the smart functionality. It connects effortlessly to my phone via Bluetooth and works seamlessly with the app. I use it to track macros and portions, and the real-time nutritional breakdown has made meal prep so much easier and more accurate. Whether I’m weighing protein, veggies, or baking ingredients, the measurements are spot-on every time. The surface is easy to clean, and the touch controls are responsive and intuitive. Battery life has been great so far as well!If you’re into cooking, meal prepping, or just want to be more mindful about what you’re eating, this scale is worth every penny. Highly recommend!

Great little scale.
This is a great little scale. It works like it should and I have had no issues with it.Now other reviews are saying that it is bad because the only way to change the measurement is to turn the knob and this changes the weight. It will briefly affect the displayed weight but it does not affect the accuracy as far as I can tell. I have tried it with multiple different known weights and it is always spot on.This is easy to clean and a great value would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a scale of this type.

Not Quite Perfect
TL;DR: looks great, accurate, but some design flaws make it very inconvenient to use.Let me just get this out of the way first: it’s a great little kitchen scale. It’s pretty accurate. It rounds the measurements up to 1 decimal place, which I loved since my current scale just gives you the whole numbers. Personally, I did not really care about its Bluetooth connectivity, so I did not use or test out that feature, but it’s there if you need it. If I were to comment on it (connected kitchen or bath scales), in my opinion, while it might add some degree of convenience, it is pretty much negated by the time aspect (it’s quicker to enter your values manually into a spreadsheet or an app of your choice), plus the privacy and security concerns. The scale looks good, which is the primary reason why I bought it (and probably the reason you’re considering it). I’m one of those people who justifies paying a bit extra just because of the looks. But I don’t like when the looks sacrifice functionality, which I think is the case here and it’s why I’m returning it. It’s surprisingly difficult to keep clean. The top is glass (or glass-like material) and it shows smudges, oils, and water residue regardless of how well I cleaned it. I was keeping a microfiber cloth handy to wipe it down, but just by it’s nature of being located in the kitchen, it’d get visibly “dirty” basically daily. It takes a few (4-5?) seconds for it to power on, with a little countdown once you hit the power button. The power button/rotary knob itself is attached to the base, which is pretty sensitive to any movement. To switch your units or to zero out your measurements, you need to physically interact with the button/knob (pressing or rotating it) and it messes up the measurements for a good second or two. The screen being a part of the top means you’re limited to the size of containers you can use, since basically anything larger than a ramekin would cover up said screen. We measure out our dog’s food, and the bowl covers the screen completely, rendering it unusable.I mean, those are just annoyances, frankly, and you can have a workaround for literally every one of those (use a different bowl/container, or use a built in Bluetooth functionality to see the screen if it gets covered, as an example). But as you’re thinking of ways around these shortcomings and inconveniences, you start to wonder why do you even bother to structure your life around a kitchen scale, lol.Anyways, if you don’t care about any of it, the scale is not bad, but it didn’t work for me.

Smart? It's actually quite dumb
The media could not be loaded. HOTO HOTO HOTO... I've got a bone to pick with you. You make some good looking stuff. Bravo. But good looks don't pay the bills and you've got to have some functionality behind your fashion or else you'll flop. And that's what the scale is, a flop.Let's start right off the bat with a biggie, and that's the batteries. This thing runs off of 3 AAA batteries. In 2023. You have "Smart" in your name and you run off of 3 AAA batteries (that are not included in the box mind you)??? That's actually quite dumb. But hey, if you're ahead of the curve, maybe you bought some nifty USB-C rechargeable AAA batteries (bringing this relatively cheap $26 scale up to a $42 value....yikes).The only on device control is the smooth knob. Smooth. This thing is meant to be used in a kitchen, where your hands are almost guaranteed to not be clean and you went with a smooth finish on a rotary knob? That's actually quite dumb. But hey, turning the knob only controls the units so if you planned ahead that might not be an issue for you.But the knob also has a 2nd function, pushing it in. Pushing it in powers it on and then also functions as a "tare" button. Good for it to have that function! Except... the knob is positioned so that even slightly touching it is picked up by the scale. The video should illustrate this thoroughly. That's actually quite dumb. Also worth noting that even though the surface is glass (fingerprint magnet glass), the rest of the body is lightweight plastic. I have nothing against plastic but it's not very heavy and the grippy feet aren't grippy enough which leads it to move every time you try to tare it. That's actually quite dumb.I didn't even bother with the app because I'm sure it's actually quite dumb at this point (not to mention that it's parent company Xiaomi was once blacklisted by the US DoD and listed as a Communist Chinese military company. But hey, that might not stop me from buying a FIMI drone in the future, but I digress). This was my first purchase from HOTO as a brand, and you better bet I've been watching them because they make some flashy stuff. But if THIS is the kind of idiotic junk that they create, then I guess I'm not going to be buying any more of their stuff anytime soon.
