Alpine Corporation 52" Outdoor Metal Windmill Spinner Stake Yard Decoration, Multicolor

I was in search of a wind spinner for my windy hillside and the Alpine wind spinner was my first choice because it was made of metal to withstand strong winds and the elements, and especially because it operates on bearings which would enable it to spin easily which is important in order for a wind spinner to work well. And, it is reasonably priced and lower than the other companies' waaaaay overpriced metal wind spinners. I was impressed by how well it worked and after my first purchase I ended up buying a total of four. Because it is made of metal, we were able to easily paint it in a color of our choice. It spins easily with a gentle breeze and is fun to watch as it keeps up with strong winds. Its design is superb in that it turns depending on the direction of the wind so it will spin no matter from what way the wind comes. I am very happy to have found these wind spinners as they add character and a sense of life to our hillside. We had a terribly windy day and one of the wind spinners blew its bearings (no problem with the other three). Alpine's Customer Service made it easy for me to explain my problem and they sent me a replacement, after I verified my purchase, so the resolve was hassle-free and with no aggravations. Great Customer Service!!! Courteous service with sincere attention to my problem. They serve right by the customer with quick resolve. Great quality product. I will buy more as I think the hillside breathes new life with the wind spinners.UPDATED COMMENT: I definitely love my wind spinners and they are working for us. With that said and after reading reviews, I agree with some of the critic's comments but found ways to make it work for us. Yes, the pole is too thin to hold it upright and it would be a great improvement to make the pole thicker/heavier. We did not use one of the extension pieces and for us it didn't have to be all that tall and making it shorter helped it be more stable. We had to put rocks at the base to hold it up. No big deal for us but I can see how that would not work for others. Another reason why it does not stand upright is because at the base of the pole there is a stabilizer to keep the pole steady after inserting the pole into the ground. However, poor design in that the stabilizer needs to be longer so it goes into the ground deeper. Placing rocks at the base helped with that and again it works for us but perhaps will not for others. When the blades spin they do wobble a little. No big deal for us and so far no problem yet. It does squeak a little when blades turn but that works to our advantage as the squeak deters problematic critters from that part of the yard. Although there is room for improvement we are happy with the product and I would purchase more in the future.

This is so cute and a fun addition to the garden. However the stake is flimsy. It is easily resolved with a hardware/garden store post of the proper size. Get one that fits but isn't tight, so it allows for movement of the pinwheel.

Well made and easy to assemble. However, each colored spinning segment was badly scratched.I purchased 2 and both were in the same condition.Good enough to keep the birds away from the herb garden!

This is a nicely constructed wind-vane, but as it does follow and rotate nicely with the wind, the screw pieces get wobbly after blowing and rotating. Overall good construction, but must continued being tightened.

There's a few things about this product that I feel could use improving.The tail and the back of the blades are all painted tan. Didn't like looking at tan all day. Would appreciate it more if each blade were painted the same color as the front. And I feel there should be four ground spikes on the bottom to secure it better in the ground. Had to find a big rock to hold it down in ground.

I love this Windmill SO much! I actually purchased mine for my daughters grave and I assembled it short on purpose. (I love that I had the option to do that) I'd been buying the small plastic w/ cloth blade windmills and after a month or 2, they'd fall apart and I'd have to buy another. I was tickled to find this metal one that I hope will last for many many years. I looked for quite some time before lucking up on this. All I could find was big ol tall 4 legged windmills that I couldn't put in a cemetery, And This one is Perfect! Just what I was looking for!**EDIT** I made bought this and made the original review September 20, 2017... It is Now June 10 2020, I came back to buy another. A blade just fell off of the first one I bought. Actually a dab of super glue or a bead of weld would put it back on, but I am going to go ahead and purchase a new one instead. It lasted 2 Years & 9 Months. Constant spinning year around out in the NC elements, it is Still well worth the money!

The product is of sturdy construction but has black spots on the blades. I hadn’t expected this so when I queried this with the vendors, they explained that these spots were deliberate to give it a rustic look.
