Size:16oz Pedro's new, plant-based Pig Juice Chain Cleaner means that cleaning your chain doesn't have to involve putting a host of toxic, worrisome chemicals in close proximity to your carbon crank arms. The solution is biodegradable and safe on any material. When applied to your chain, it will cut through grimy dirt, oil, and grease to unveil a shiny chain you may have forgotten was there all along.

It's Good, But...
Everything in life is a trade off. This product is no different. It's a very good biodegradable degreaser. However, compared to a professional, industrial grade, non biodegradable degreaser, it falls short. Without going into a long winded story, I tested Pig Juice against Pedro's Oranj Peelz and Simple Green 13421 Pro HD Heavy Duty Cleaner. Although both Oranj Peelz and Pro HD are not biodegradable, they did a much better job of cleaning the chain. The problem is in disposing these different products. Unless you use Pig Juice over and over again, to the point where it is the color and consistency of used motor oil, it can be flushed down the toilet, without the pangs of a guilty conscience. Obviously, you can't do the same with stronger, but infinitely more problematic, non biodegradable degreasers.

Works well, but not like magic, which is probably good.
It'll still take some elbow grease to get the job done. Get a good set of brushes and have at it.As others have noted, "biodegradable" is not the same as "non-toxic", so I wear some gloves, which also keeps your hands free of grime. From a purely scientific standpoint, all substances degrade with enough time, so I worry a bit about what "biodegradable" means in this case, however I'll offer a purely pragmatic reason why I like this product. Unlike some car products that actually do "melt" the grease away (with nasty chemical reactions), this stuff does not seem to cause that sort of chemical change. This means that if some leaks into your bottom bracket or the bushings on your frame, it might not destroy the precious grease inside (let's hope). I still recommend being tender with the application of any degreaser, and avoid getting it in or near any bearing point as best as you can. Tilt your bike in a way that causes drips to roll away from the bottom bracket, and make sure you remove your rear wheel when cleaning the chain to protect the hub. I also wash the bike well after cleaning the drive train. If you must use it on the cassette, do it with wheel removed and tilted to flow the liquid away from the hub. Park Tools has a nice instructional video on how to do this. I recommend watching it if you're new to the cleaning game. I also recommend practicing on your kid's old bike. They'll grow out of it before you notice any mistakes.I have used other brands of degreaser, and while this might not be as "magical" it does get the job done in a way that makes me feel that it is safe to use on my precious ride. I should point out that it works well with water and seems to wash away beautifully. Once I tried some "Schwinn" degreaser, only to discover that I needed another solvent to remove it from the chain (it also failed to remove the grime).

Wow that works well
After reading a review on chain cleaners from cyclingtips.com this degreaser came out on tops. I've long used Pedros products and have generally been happy with them. This chain cleaner is biodegradable and strong as heck. Using a Park chain cleaner and this product I cleaned up 3 of my bikes chains (new solution each time) and was quite frankly amazed with how well it degreased the chain. Seriously good job. While I don't recommend drinking the stuff it is nice to know that this stuff won't kill everything that it touches and will eventually break down.

Fine but Not Great
My impression from having used Pig Juice a few times now is that it works fine, not great, fine. It isn't much different from using distilled water and floor cleaner. In fact, it leaves behind a lot of soap bubbles. I feel like I should have made my own for far less money.

It actually works...
This is some magic juice. Cleaned my chain and drivetrain today and this got left it all squeaky clean. It was great to see in real time the muck on my chain falling off (using Park tool chain cleaner). Will definitely buy again once I'm done with it.

I have no idea how they get juice out of pigs....
This stuff is great at cleaning chains when combined with the Pedro's chain pig. LIke really great. This system is convenient, quick, and it does a better job cleaning the chain -on the bike- than I can do with the chain off the bike.

cleans chain well
Worked well and with hook was really pretty hand-free. Works much better than my Park Chain Cleaner. Suggest viewing their short video.

Works good.
Works good. You can see the grim falling off the chain and cassette as you rinse it off during cleaning.
