Around the World in 80 Days
This is a wonderful book. I stayed up all hours of the night cause I didn't want to put it down. It was a breath of fresh air and just the right amount of humor. Author, Mr Vernes, did an awesome job!

Great Story
Some books are more interesting if read as an adult, then as required reading in Middle School. Around the World in Eighty Days is one such book.

A Swell Buy with the Original Illustrations.
Bailing on the PBS and UK version after 2 episodes, I decided to read Verne’s novel. I wish I had read it when I was 12. The original illustrations are superb. The only balloons are in the filmed versions. Verne picks certain spots, mainly India and the western US, for wild adventures. I can see where it would be a hit in the 1870s where so much of the foreign background would be new knowledge. It is easy to read and would make a swell little gift for a young reader. On the other hand, it is a good book for adults to know. What mattered to people 150 years ago is worth knowing. Railroad enthusiasts will find a lot to like.

A Classic!
A classic tale which keeps one's attention. It was especially interesting to learn what India and the far east were like at the time of this novel. Highly recommended.

Who was the translator?
I thoroughly enjoyed the book but was disappointed that the translator was not even mentioned or given any credit? The original version the sealed Jules Vern's fame was translated by George Makepeace Towle. Who translated this version?

Ordered this after seeing a program on tv of this. The book was very different.
Maybe the program on tv was better!
