The Bass Book: A Complete Illustrated History of Bass Guitars
W**J
A ‘must buy’ for bass guitar enthusiasts.
I play the bass as a hobby, and I’ve been interested in bass guitars since the 1970s. I’ve been looking for the ‘definitive bass guitar book’ for a while, but some of the reviews of The Bass Book - a complete illustrated history of bass guitars: updated edition, by Tony Bacon and Barry Moorhouse, made me hesitate. Nevertheless, I ordered the book from Amazon (the version with the blue Jazz Bass body on the cover), and it’s everything I hoped it would be. It’s extremely informative, professionally produced, on excellent quality paper, with clear photographs and illustrations. Frankly, I can’t see why anyone would give this book less than a four star rating, no matter how picky they are. I’m well pleased with my purchase, and with Amazon’s speedy delivery.

Very poor quality reproduction
Very poor quality reproduction. Grainy, black and white pictures only. I suspect this is a later issue of a much better quality original. If you can get an original edition with quality printing in colour then it is worth getting, this version avoid at all costs!

A great history let down by crappy b and w pics.
A fine history of the evolution of the bass guitar. Let down only by the cheap paper it's printed on and the very grainy black and white pics of classic basses. It should have been the same size as The Fender Bass Book and all the pics should have been in full colour. I would have happily paid extra.
