Kidde KN-COB-B-LP Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide Alarm, Battery Operated - 21007268

I picked this up and am gonna have to buy more. Out of the packeage this comes with the batteries needed to work, durecell, and screws. Its an easy two screw install: two screws mount the back plate to the wall, and the monitor slides down on the plate to mount. Aesthetically: it looks like a thermostat, about the same size too. I put this in the middle of the wall towards the end in the middle of the room, and I dont even notice it. I have to tell you, compared to the rest, this looks the best. I bought a different brand and it looks like a huge box... Unlike this! There are about several different alarms to tell you whats going on with the unit. Several different language instructions are included.

Inexpensive without all the bells an whistles of the more expensive ones. I use it at my cabin where I heat with a wood stove. The cabin is small, and non insulated (Northerrn Michigan), and used mainly for hunting in the fall. It operates on batteries---which is fine and dandy since we have no electricity in the middle of the swamp. Over the last 3 years, this has saved our butt on 2 occasions, by going off at night and waking us from our sleep. Both nights were below 20 degrees, so we had the wood stove really kicking out the heat(and rapidly using up the oxygen in the cabin). We exited the cabin, let it air out good, and then reoccupied it. Glad these are dependable. I also make sure to put fresh batteries in every fall. We leave a window cracked about an inch now since these 2 incidents, and haven't had a problem since.

Same model, but an older unit that looks exactly the same expired at 7 years. This unit is now rated up to 10 years. They unfortunately cheaped out on some chinese crap batteries instead of USA duracell’s that it used to ship with. Unit is made in china, so it feels and looks cheap, but it works.

Decent price for the carbon monoxide detector. Installation was easy, but battery install was very "tight" to get batteries (supplied) in. 3 AA batteries supplied which is always nice. Manual & packaging states 10 year expiration. Purchased 11/2018, detector has a 07/2017 manufacture date on the inside. However, manual also states "... 10 years from initial power up,,,"

I bought two of these Kidde KN Nighthawks. Very easy to install and tested and it work fine. The shape is not round which I like b/c I don't want it to looks like another smoke detectors. I putted it by my mbr and in the hallway to my other bedrooms.

Two came with my house. I bought the next two when those first two needed replacement. After years of faithful service, they let you know (via a beep code) that its time to change them. When we first bought our house, our ventilation was a bit messed up and we had CO not venting. These alarms tipped us to the problem before we felt any effects. We ordered one of those free energy audits that you get from the power company and the auditor confirmed the ventilation was not right. The HVAC people changed it and we haven't had a CO build-up in two years. This is the light model, the next model up has a readout but you don't need a readout -- you just need an alarm when something is wrong.
