VTOP USB 3.0 to Dual Port Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 NIC Adapter w/USB Port - Add Two Separate Networks and One USB 3.0 Device for Laptop/Desktop(Black)

Like some other reviewers, I purchased this to use with wireshark. It worked fabulously the first few times. Over time and use and travel, one port has become unreliable. Sometimes it will work well and sometimes the connection is shakey.This product should be good for a proof of concept or a system where it doesn't get moved around a bunch. As a traveling device, you cannot rely on it.

My large desktop is surrounded by audio gear and has multiple heavy things on top, as well. So when the NIC card failed (no more ethernet connection to router), I was faced with the daunting task of breaking down this whole system just to get at the case, flip it over, the replace the NIC. I found this V-Top USB 3.0 ethernet adapter, ordered it, and plugged it into an open 3.0 port. Driver installation was automatic (Win7Pro), and that was it--now I have not one, but two new ethernet jacks, as well as a handy pass-through feature. This has worked flawlessly since installation--it really saved my ass.

I bought this adapter a while ago, and started using it just recently for a Raspberry Pi-based router setup. Upon boot, it looks so nice, but after 2 minutes, the second port starts to "flicker", disconnecting and later reconnecting to the device connected to it.Trying to troubleshoot the issue, I found that the linux kernel seems to register the second port as disconnected from the usb host (the adapter uses a single connection to the usb host), so I really don't know what to think about this.The first port (eth0) is stable and works as one would expect, but my expectation is to have two ports in full working condition, which is not the case.Reading comments from other buyers, it seems they have run into similar issues. Sadly I realized of the issue until recently, way after the return date had come and gone.

Tested in both Windows 10 and Kali 2019.3 works well doing direct packet captures and works with the Throwing Star LAN tap.The device is pretty slim making it easy to makes space for in an already crowded bag.The build quality seems quite good, much better then expected for the price.

I needed a way to capture the traffic on my network. This device allowed me to do that using Wireshark.

amazing device! no driver needed, plug and play in windows 10 proboth ports connect and work at gigabit speed, concurrently, and flawlessly. after about 30 min, the device barely get warm and that is at consistent file transmission. Going to use for server connections.very well build with hard plastic. the package is good and included instruction booklet and CD works too.

Went through a few of these kind of devices. Some did not work while other brands had driver issues. Found the fight combo in this one.

Tried it with two GigE cameras in Windows 10, no driver required. This adapter allows both cameras run at full Gigabyte speed. I surely works for my need.
