Significant and costly disassembly of washer required to service clogged drain pump filter!
Have owned washer dryer pair for just under a year. Washer flashed #21 (drain time-out) error with 2 weeks left on 1 year standard warranty. The immediate problem was that the drain filter was clogged. The design problem is that clearing the filter requires mechanical disassembly of the washer to get to the location of the filter, a 2 hour task for a factory trained repairman. As a retired product design engineer, it is beyond me what Electrolux designers were thinking when they designed a washer a filter that is inaccessible and clearable by the owner. As designed, this washer requires manual draining of the washer and the use of tools to both open up the washer and disassemble the washing machine drain pump subsystem to get to the filter. Most other brands make sure that the filter is easily accessible to the end user. One would think that Electrolux knew this when they designed the matched dryer, given that it’s filter is easily accessible. I would not have purchased this unit if I had known of this design flaw for what is otherwise a well designed and a quality product. I am very disappointed.

DO NOT BUY ELECTROLUX!
DON’T BUY ELECTROLUX! I bought a washer and dryer set with pedestals that cost me over $2,000. The dryer was serviced once under the 1-year warranty that it had. I chose not to buy an extended warranty; after all, I thought I bought a top-of-the-line appliance. I was wrong.I’ve now had service out 4 times in a little over a year, all at my cost. I have a family of 6, and my wife has to use a laundromat while waiting for service (service company has been fantastic though). I called the company only to be told “you should have bought the extended warranty”. I tried explaining that after replacing the motor and control panel that this dryer is clearly a lemon. “Too bad”, they said. “Should have bought the warranty”. They thoughtfully(!) offered $53 off the part I needed after complaining enough, but told me it was a one-time offer only good for 30 days. The repair is close to $200, and I’m sure won’t be the last I’ll need.I will never be purchasing an Electrolux product again, nor will I be purchasing Frigidaire, White-Westinghouse, or any other brand they make. I bought what I thought was a good product from a good company, but they clearly make a shoddy product and refuse to stand by it.BUY AT YOUR PERIL, I HAVE NOW SPENT MORE IN REPAIRS THAN THE DRYER COST ME!!!
