There is always a way...
Selene and Damien are now married through chance and life couldn't be more complicated. They must learn how two vastly different people can become one and still work toward uniting the great houses before the Domina Empire conquers them. The awkwardness of being a newly married couple is made even worse when Selene and Damien don't communicate well and perceive that the other doesn't really want to be together. This book, while still having a strong storyline, was in my opinion, not as strong as book one. It was clunky and on the nose is places as Selene discovers a connection to the Light. What made it up for me though, were the themes conveyed through this story: our past doesn't have to define us, and that the gifts we have can be used for good or ill.The relationship Damien and Selene build throughout this book is one of respect, and true love, not lust. Something that I feel is lacking in a lot of books these days. I also appreciated the fact that God, or the Light, and learning to give over who we are and our gifts to Him to use for good was beautifully done.

Absolutely Magnificent!
"Dreams are where the deepest part of a person dwells."Selene Ravenwood knows the truth of this statement better than anyone, for she is a dreamwalker; able to enter the dreams of those around her at will. For many years the House of Ravenwood had been secretly employing this ancient gift as a weapon of darkness; Selene and her sister constantly honing their skills, poised to carry out the heinous commands of the their mother. Now that Selene has broken away from that destiny, by entering into a hasty marriage relationship with Grand Lord Damien of the house of Maris, she wonders (not for the first time) who she was really created to be. If all the gifts were created by The Light, then why does her soul remain so dark? Not only is this story . . . . a great story; with its beautiful imagery and brilliant characterizations . . . . it's a magnificent display of the power that light has over darkness, and a tender reminder of the deep agony befalling those who seek the light only to be pushed and pulled and torn and shoved by the shadows of darkness, who whisper falsehoods and accusations. Ultimately it's a great love story, for Damien and Selene have many obstacles to overcome, not the least of which is whether or not Selene is even capable of giving away her heart to a man who cannot decide whether or not he can trust her. You'll enjoy every chapter of this book!

Solid second book, but I like the 1st and 3rd more
I absolutely loved the first half of this book. Again the writing was great. I loved learning more about the world, and gifts.Damien and Selene’s relationship was so well done. You got to see it grow into something truly beautiful.Selene’s journey on trying to find the light was neat, but it felt way too dragged out. It was the same frustration I felt in the first book with her indecisiveness. I think it was too much back and forth, when to me the answer seemed so clear! By the second half of the book I was thinking come on! Choose the light, the dark lady is clearly evil.I also got frustrated that Selene didn’t practice her dreamwalking more, to try to master her skills. I get trying to do research by reading, but it would have been neat to see her trying to use her gift for good. And Ah! Not questioning why people are seeing a raven in their dreams. I wanted to shake Selene and Damien for not looking into that sooner. All that aside though Selene is still a very enjoyable main character. She’s strong, and I love that she is not as cold as she was in the first book.Damien is still great. The Light is very well done, and I love the hope that He gives. As a Christian fantasy, it is rocking it in the allegory department.Overall 3.5. Rounding up because the Light, the romance, and writing is great.Spoilers coming:The end of the book was frustrating. Selene not wanting to trust the other houses for something that happened hundreds of years ago doesn’t make any sense to me. I hope that isn’t going to be dragged out for long in the 3rd book.Content: clean, no swearing, a fade to black moment between a married couple, very well done with nothing descriptive except some kisses.

Wonderful Second Book in Ravenwood Saga by Morgan Busse
Book two of Morgan Busse’s Ravenwood Saga, Flight of the Raven takes up where the previous book ends with Selene Ravenwood and her new husband Damien Maris on their journey to his home in the north. From that point on the tale grows more intense by the page with plenty of action, danger, and a developing romance.I was enthralled by this story as Selene searched for the truth – drawn to the difference she witnessed in Damien and those who surrounded him yet hesitant to embrace the Light herself. I felt that the author managed to express valuable Christian truth within this wonderful fantasy and did so beautifully. I so appreciated the development of the relationship between Selene and Damien that was natural and unhurried. It made their eventual decisions so much more believable. It is difficult to express how much I enjoyed Flight of the Raven without divulging too many spoilers so I encourage other readers to read this one for themselves. Although some may enjoy it on its own, I personally would recommend reading Mark of the Raven first in order to understand the tale in its entirety. I look forward to the next installment of this most excellent series.I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book provided by the author. I had also purchased a copy. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.

Great 2nd book!
The saga continues as Lady Selene makes a decision most contrary to her mother's plans. Ms. Busse is a gifted storyteller who effortlessly draws readers into her world!

A heart filled heart stopper!
This book was well paced and built up the love between Selene and Damien well. I loved the fights and the quiet moments. The progression of Ragnar and Amara plots were well handled and the revelations were well done and Selene's journey from darkness and into light was equally well donel

I loved this second book in the Ravenwood saga
I've just finished reading Flight of the Raven by Morgan L. Busse. I loved this second book in the Ravenwood saga. This story continues to follow Selene Ravenwood who is part of an ancient great family who have the ability to dreamwalk. This means she is able to go into other people's dreams and explore their secret fears and desires. In the first book 'Mark of the Raven' we saw her come into her gift and undergo training in how to use it. In this book we get to experience more of the world and the different kingdoms. We also see how some of the other gifts work. As the story progresses, Selene learns more about her gift and the spiritual forces at work in the world and we get to see how the different relationships grow and change. The Christian symbolism is fantastic but totally embedded in the story. At no point did I feel like I was being preached at. The book builds to a crescendo and now I really want to read the next book!
