Should have believed bad reviews
I cut through the wall and placed a sleeve in my bedroom wall to install a Friedrich 8000BTU air conditioner. It died in about one year and I did not want to go through the construction of another sleeve. So I bought the same model, (CCW08B10B, with a 5 year warranty) from Friedrich again for the fit. My experience with this new air conditioner was the same as the reviews of other customers. The remote stopped working about 1year into the installation and 4 days after the return window expired, the air conditioner stopped cooling. I contacted Friedrich for assistance and spoke to at least four warranty service companies they recommended. None of them would honor the warranty. The bottom line is that this unit is junk. Not repairable and the warranty is a hoax. Very disappointed in the company and the unit. Save your money and believe the negative reviews

Can’t beat the price.
I purchased this AC for thru the wall installation in a bedroom on a third floor. First off - I couldn’t beat the price. Through the wall ACs are so expensive and with the pandemic causing issues in production together with the increased demand for ACs in the summer … they are ridiculously expensive. It was definitely time to change out our AC and do love the app feature that allows me to turn on the AC from my phone.

Not Reliable/ Not Serviceable
I purchased this unit in July 2022. In March 2022 when turning it on, it no longer "cooled". When using their website to contact a service provider, was told they only service residential. When contacting the company directly, they said they would reimburse up to $75 for a tech to come out and run a diagnostic, at which time they would send a new unit. The issue is, NOBODY will come out to service or run a diagnostic on a window unit. When I explained this to the customer service supervisor, she was unable to offer any assistance. This unit lasted less than a year. They are not serviceable. Should be considered single use, and disposable. It is misleading of Friedrich to list service providers, that will not provide service. What good is a warranty? Friedrich requires a tech to come run a diagnostic before they will replace it, yet no AC company will do that. Kinda makes any warranty worthless.....

Made in China
I'm renovating a house, and with the ceiling open, I needed a boost to the central unit. I hate buying from China, and did a lot of research to find that Friedrich was based in Texas, but moved production to Mexico. Well, apparently they moved to China as well. Very disappointing. Anyway, on to the review.First off, this unit was designed for a very narrow window. As you can see in the images, I had to stretch the baffles beyond the point where the rails were still connected. I had to plug the holes. Next, they sent some foam board to add as insulation over the baffles. They don't cover them completely. This window was not abnormally wide. I'll get measurements next time we go back to work on the house.Second, you have to remove the unit from the chassis to install it. The chassis (metal shell) is installed in the window, and then you insert the unit back in. I have never had to do this with any unit before. You need to take care not do damage the fins on hot and cold coils while the unit is outside of the chassis.Third, as other reviewers have stated, the remote leaves a bit to be desired. It does not sync with the unit all the time, which makes the display useless. I also had issues with it responding to button presses.Performance review: This unit is not overly loud. Even on high speed, we were able to sleep. It pulled the temperature down very quickly, even before we finished insulating the window as seen in the pictures. At night we would close the bedroom door, and it made the room too cold. We had to turn it up. In the day while we were working, we left the bedroom door open and it assisted the main unit in keeping the entire house cool despite the open ceiling that made the main unit struggle. Did not use the Wi-Fi. So, I can't comment on it.Why 3 stars? One star off for being outsourced to China. Another star off for not being designed for a normal size window.

Works well
Bought as a replacement for an in-the-wall unit we’d had for years. We were limited by the dimensions of the opening and this was the closest we could find. Seems to work well in a smaller bedroom Relatively low noise level.

Failed after only 2 seasons of use
I purchased this unit in June 2021. The remote operation was a little wonky but we figured that was no big deal. We installed the unit last week, only to find out it has stopped producing cool air.The issue is not cleanliness or the filter, and it will likely cost a couple hundred to inspect and/or fix the unit, if it’s even possible. Like another reviewer said, this is essentially a $500 single-use product.

Poor product packaging leads to damaged rear fins.
Great AC, but poor manufacturer packaging leads to damaged fins, less than 1/2 of foam (accordion insulation) to protect rear of ac. Rear enclosure grille/grate bearing logo is also too close to rear fins causing any bumps in transit to press into the fins. Multiple purchased from different distributors and same type of damage to all of them.Unit Operating Pros,AC itself works well, app and user interface is straightforward and simple, Works well.Cons,Poor packaging as stated above, Makes the unit look pretty ugly cosmetically.Has a drain plug / adapter insert that does not have any information in the manual and seems to be added after the fact.
