Best on the market
My husband is a professional propagator of rare azaleas. We have bought many different types of propagation systems . This product outshines them all! First, the clear planting base is genius because the plants sit in a dark green tray to develop their root system , yet you can easily lift them up above the dark tray to check rooting progress in a glance. When the roots are filled out , you know exactly the correct time to plant on your seedlings - without any disturbance to your young plant ! The bottom tray is sturdy and latches on to the top . The top is both vented with a hard plastic piece AND also the tallest I could find , so your plants have plenty of room to grow taller , have the air flow around them to breathe, and are tall enough for the pro tags we use . Other brands are not this tall and are not this sturdy. Also, the smaller sized plug space ( where the soil goes) is much better than the larger 4"x4" soil containers because you can get 12 in such a small space. My husband has access to larger wholesale gardening sites selling professional products , so I bought this first set for me, knowing if he tries it , he'll definitely have found exactly what he needs . BINGO! He immediately was a convert straight from the package to these. When you're propagating 500 azaleas for the NC Chapter sale , size of the plugs and ease of use , along with durability is key. Thanks for a winning product!

Sturdy and great value
after using the typical seed starter cells that are paper thin that typically only last for one or maybe two plantings before tearing I thought I'd give these a try. They are fairly sturdy in comparison and the vented covers are a nice addition. I only purchased one set to see how the quality is and after getting and using them I'm definitely going to order more. These will be my go to seed starting trays. I highly recommend these.

Do Not Leave In the Sun!
Let me start by saying I love using these for seed starting and propagating succulents. I read other reviews that mentioned the thinness of the plastic and will say that although it is thin, the trays will last if you don't throw them around. However, if you live in a hot area or plan to leave these in direct sunlight just know they will warp. During 90+ degree weather last summer, 3 of my trays warped but remained usable. This was my mistake, so don't let it deter you from buying them. I love that the soil tray separates from the bottom tray so I can drain excess water, trim roots, etc. The vent in the lid works surprisingly well (I had some doubts). I can adjust each unit's vent so that succulents receive maximum airflow and seeds can receive the proper amount of humidity.

Good upgrade but still could use improvements
Let’s just say I’m very experienced in growing rare and tropical fruits. These higher lids are a huge upgrade from the old similar product. Now if they only upgraded the bottom to be 3.3” that would be pretty much perfect!! I replace the small 12 cell for the larger 6 cell tray. These 12 trays are just to small for most fruit trees and hard to remove them because the tap root comes out the bottom hole so quick. I would definitely buy more if you make the container deeper or with just the larger 6 cell tray. 3.3 inch is a huge upgrade for lid but still not enough for certain seeds. Like lychee seedlings reach the top very quick still. I ended up having to buy one of those big expensive 1020 type tall lids but I still use these smaller ones for certain types of plants. The Surinam cherry and Natal plums in the photo do stay small enough to stay in these for a while. Also guava were ideal for these small 12 tray

The best kit like this I've ever used
Not just for seed-starting, I am using these to root cuttings, as well. The clear insert is great because I can check on the progress of the roots without disturbing the cuttings. The nice high dome is perfect for the 3" cuttings which stand above the soil level and I like the little adjustable vents on the top to provide aeration as the plants root and get ready for transplant. They seem quite sturdy and reusable, too - they're much stronger than the flimsy plastic seed starter pots I've tried in the past.

Awesome
I used dollar store ones previously. These are really sturdy, easy to use, with a nice vent for moisture control. I may be purchasing more if I run out. I am a big gardener.

Good initial use, but they melted outside on shaded storage!
I bought these to use annually with my grow lights. I wanted something reusable and to get away from the peat discs. These were easy to use, worked great under grow lights in early spring to get plants started. I loved them! However, when I stored them in an outdoor storage cabinet andcwrnt to use them again, I saw they had melted. It was kind of like those old Shrinky Dinks you put in an oven. I reached out to Amazon. They won't refund or exchange after 30 days. I've dealt with their chat help several times and got nowhere, nor was I able to reach the company. I'm not happy. Just a warning and tip if you want to reuse them- keep them inside!

Excellent!
Not only is this quality made and re-useable...The added/bonus tools were so nice and durable. (dibble and soil scoop etc) I'll be able to use them for years to come. These would also make a very nice gift! The dome also has an adjustable vent. They also fit the standard seed starting containers perfectly - One dome holds two 6 cell regular seed starting containers besides the clear trays that they come with.
