Spalding Rookie Gear 27.5" Basketball | Lighter to Help Develop Technique | Designed for Indoor & Outdoor Play

We bought this ball for a nephew recently because we bought one for our son about 15 years ago. Our son used this ball to develop correct shooting form at a young age. He ended up a four year varsity high school player that was a leading scorer on his team and a player of the game in the state championship tournament. We give a lot of his shooting ability credit to this ball. Young kids develop poor habits due to balls that are too heavy for correct form. This ball helps to fix that problem…add hard work and the combination can lead to great things on the court.

This is a great basketball for the quality and value. I run a 2nd grade clinic and this is one of the nicer balls there. I only use it for indoor so not sure how well it holds up outside, but has been great inside the gym. It’s a size 5 for Kindergarten and 2nd grade.

Arrived quickly and damage free! Our Grandson loves it! Works perfectly Exact color. Holds air like it should. Look and feel are high quality.

I am giving it four stars only because the original ball kept leaking requiring me to pump it up every day. Since I had bought it as a gift for my grandson, the 30 day Amazon return policy had expired. I reached out to Spalding and sent them the proper information including pics. They are sending me a new basketball. It is great to see a company stand behind their product. Kudos to Spalding! The basketball is a quality ball and a perfect fit for my 7 year old grandson. Very happy with its performance.

I purchased this basketball for my son to use in his first year of basketball. I'm giving this ball a 1-Star rating because it developed ridges along the black seams of the ball, causing the ball to bounce in unpredictable ways. Teaching my son to dribble the ball was difficult enough without having to chase it around every time it landed on one of the black seams. I had a difficult time bouncing the ball in place because the ball would shoot off in a random direction as if it hit a rock on the ground, even though I was bouncing it indoors on a clean, flat surface. I kept the ball hoping that the ridges would flatten out, but no such luck. I ended up giving the ball away and purchasing something else.

This ball must have come with a tear in it, because it leaks air and we have to re pump it at after every single bball practice! It just hits the ground with a hard thud. So annoying. I’ve missed the return window, and now I’m stuck with a flat basketball. Can someone from Spalding please contact me?! I have no way of contacting this company on the Amazon page.

When 20 kids show up for practice, this ball is much easier to find so when they are doing drills my kid knows exactly which ball to grab!
