Initial quality is crap, but better after tweaking
Out of the box this digital caliper was unusable. When opening it to its full extension the reading would go from positive to negative numbers and never return to zero when the caliper was closed. I was ready to return it and buy a more expensive model. It came with a spare battery so in an attempt to find the battery location I removed the 4 screws from the back. When I opened it some plastic debris fell out, and I also discovered that the battery is under a cover on the front of the display and no screws needed to be removed. After reassembling the caliper its performance is PERFECT. The reading on the display reads exactly what is on the scale and it returns to zero every time.NOTE: This is far from a precision instrument. If you're a machinist and bring this tool to the shop you will be laughed at. The jaws don't meet completely when closed and there is plastic "flash" around most of the measuring surfaces that needs to be scraped off. If you're a hobbyist like me and are just using it to get rough measurements that are +/- 0.1mm then this will work fine for you. I used it to measure an object that I wanted to reproduce with my 3D printer and it worked fine. If you need accuracy down to a thou then avoid this caliper.

Add to landfill
I ordered two of these so I’d have a back up.The packaging was identical, except that only one included an extra battery.Next, the one branded with ‘SEGOMO TOOLS’ is so terribly inaccurate that when slowly opening the gap, the display climbs, then switches to negative numbers. When closing to nothing, the display reads some rando measure, sometimes negative, like -47 mm, then without contact switches to positive 93 and back again... all while sitting still on a horizontal bench, with no other contact. As seen in the photos, one reads a smaller measure than the other, yet covers a wider spread. If you need anything other than a straight edge, don’t waste your money on this landfill additive. To mention the word consistency would be an insult to the dictionary.Best thing is that I spent twelve dollars to get three LR 44 batteries: one in each and one extra.

Change the battery
Inexpensive, accurate enough for my uses- however there was a spot in the package for two batteries- only one battery was in the package the other was already installed and just like the negative feedback on this- mine was all over the place in measurements!! I was ready to send it back as junk then I hesitated- I switched the battery out and it works great. I do wish they had not pre-installed the battery though or maybe I got someone else’s return but for the price and considering that it’s working good now I’m happy enough with it

Wanted a good quality low cost Digital Calipers!
These are NOT THAT! These are are lowest quality Digital Calipers I have ever seen. Returned the next day. Just the feel is low quality sorry to say, when I put the calipers at 0 and reset to 0 and then move to max opening it was so bad feeling rough and not smooth. Then when slid back to closed and the display was not at 0. Sorry to say I have never seen such poor quality digital Calipers I have ever used.

Works fine for what I need, but battery died within month and sellers no help.
Purchased this to get measurements on some watches so I used it for like an hour or so. After about a month or so I go back to get it and the battery is dead. I tried contacting the seller but they didn't want to help. Thankfully Amazon was able to help.So works fine for what's needed, but if your unlucky like me who got a dud good luck getting any assistance from seller. Make sure to have extra batteries just in case.
