A Very Good Toaster With An Outstanding Design
This toaster has a great “leave on the counter” look, being both stylish and unique. I like the display. It is subtle, intuitive and matches the design of the unit. In the purchase research, some of the touch screens and panels looked like you were about to play Candy Crush on the toaster. This display is more elegant. When not in use the power icon is dim and once it is pushed and the option icons illuminate in various degrees. I found no problem in making choices. After a short time of playing with it, I knew where everything was anyway, since the display is uncluttered. I am unsure why there are so many reviews complaining about the display brightness and readability. However, if you have it pointed directly at a light or a window in daylight, the standby intensity of the bagel, frozen breads, and reheat touch pads will wash out some. Even then, it’s Bagel, Frozen, Reheat top to bottom. Not much of a memory test. My old toaster specifically noted that bagels went cut-side-out. I assumed the same for the Oster. My old toaster then had higher heat on the outside coils and lower warming heat on the inside. So does the Oster. The Oster did a great job of even toasting and warming. Sliced bread came out nicely as toast, and fairly even. No toaster is going to do a perfect job every time due to the nature of uneven moisture in breads, but there did not appear to be excessive hot spots. Frozen waffles takes a little experimentation to align settings with individual preference. The lift and peek is generous, so you see enough of the food to determine its condition. Sometimes a toaster is just a toaster. This device is a very good toaster with a design and coolness factor that helps it be more. Next we will see if Oster still builds in durability.

Really solid for the money
The price of toasters can greatly vary. Just a quick search on here and you'll see that. This isn't some super expensive toaster, so you shouldn't expect that. For the very reasonable price on this unit though, it's a very nice toaster. I got the 2 slice model because I don't have much counter space and the 2 slice unit is nice and compact. Doesn't take up much room at all. The touch screen on the unit is kind of unique. I've only owned it for a month or so, but so far the touch screen has worked perfectly fine. I've seen some negative reviewers say that the touch screen display isn't very bright. They are correct. But to me that's not a bad thing. I already have a night-light in the kitchen, along with a bright light up display on the stove display and the microwave display. I don't need another super bright display. I suppose maybe if the toaster is at a bad angle compared to a window in which sunlight comes in, maybe the dim display could be an issue? But I'm only speculating there. I don't have that problem and to me the display is plenty bright. I have no trouble reading it at all and like I mentioned, I don't need another bright light in the kitchen. I already have enough light-up stuff haha. One feature that's pretty awesome is you have the ability to lift the toast up to check how it's coming along without cancelling the toast cycle. On every other toaster I've owned, if you lift the toast up to check on it you had to cancel the cycle and then to start toasting again you were resetting the timer of the toast cycle. That was always a hassle because once you checked on the toast and reset the timer then you were forced to manually babysit it since the timer would be out of whack at that point and burn your toast. On this unit though, you can check the toast on the fly without having to cancel the existing cycle. I know that seems simple, but I love that option. Another cool little thing on this one is there is a "status bar" on the display. The bar start as full and then gets smaller and smaller as the toast cycle goes on. This is helpful since it lets you glace over and see when the toast is about to pop up for you can grab it right as it pops up, keeping it hot if you are going to be applying butter or anything that you want to melt on the warm toast. Every other toaster I've owned, you never knew when it was about to pop so you'd end up walking out of the kitchen and when you returned the toast would be done but it would be cold since you were late getting to it. This status bar helps prevent that. As for it "evenly" toasting the bread,,, it seems fine to me. I've never owned a super expensive toaster so I can't say how it compares to the big money ones, but compared to every "budget friendly" toaster that I've owned, it seems to do just fine. I know the touch screen / display seems to be the selling point of this unit. Honestly, that feature has been fine for me, no issues with it. But the features that are really awesome to me are the status bar showing you the progress of the toast, for you can grab it as soon as it pops and the ability to check on the toast without having to cancel the toast cycle.... I've never had either of those features before and I'm liking them alot.... Very happy with the purchase.

Right purchase for us.
We really like this toaster. Plenty of settings and is pretty self intuitive. The style is attractive but not too bold.

Easy to Use and I Really Like the Touch Screen
I got this Oster 4-slice toaster for my kitchen, and overall I really like it. I was actually considering returning it at first because the light on the touch screen panel is very faint. My kitchen is pretty bright, and it can be difficult to see the display clearly when there is a lot of light around it. The pictures make the display look brighter than it actually is, so that's something to be aware of. I decided to keep it because I really like the toaster itself. The touch screen is easy to use, and I like being able to see the countdown as the toast is cooking. It gives me an idea of how much longer I have to wait instead of just guessing when it's going to be done. I also like how easy it is to clean. The crumb tray comes out easily, so I can empty it without having to turn the whole toaster upside down. The stainless steel finish also looks nice on my counter. The different settings are useful, especially when I want to change how light or dark I want my toast. I also like having options for things like bagels, reheating, and frozen bread instead of having to use the same setting for everything. Setup was basically nonexistent. I just plugged it in and set the shade level I wanted. The controls were easy enough for me to figure out without spending a lot of time reading instructions. It feels sturdy and well made, and the toaster doesn't feel flimsy when I'm using the controls or checking the toast. I also like the lever because I can raise the toast when I need to check it or take it out. What comes with the order: the 4-slice Oster toaster with the removable crumb tray and built-in touch-screen controls. Cons: The display is the main issue for me. The light is too faint for my liking, especially in a bright kitchen. I really wish the screen were brighter because it would make it much easier to see. Is It Worth It? For me, yes, even with the dim display. I seriously considered returning it because of that issue, but I like the way the toaster works, how easy it is to clean, and how simple the touch screen is to use. The countdown is also a feature I really like. If the display were brighter, I would have no complaints.

Love this toaster!
After more than 16 years, I had to look for a new toaster. I had the Oster 4 slice toaster, and it worked great for years, but unfortunately I accidentally dropped something in the toaster and then it melted in there. At first I was going to just get the same toaster, but wanted to see what else was available. My biggest complaint on my old toaster was uneven toasting. One side would be toasted more and you’d have to flip the bread or whatever you’re toasting and toast it again to get even toasting. So I really wanted something that was more consistent. I researched a lot of toasters and unfortunately there are so many options and so many opinions, it was really hard to choose. But this Oster toasted had the highest percentage of 5 star reviews by a lot and other video reviews showed even toasting so I decided to try it and I’m so glad we did. I just got the two slicer this time instead of the four. - The display light front works great for me whether the lights in the kitchen are on or off. (Took a pic of both for reference). The only time it was a little harder to see is if it’s right underneath our under cabinet lights but even then it wasn’t bad. -We love the countdown feature but sometimes the kids get confused and think they selected the level 6 toasting since the timer starts at the top and I have to remind them that it’s just the timer. -The quick peek and extra 30 sec toasting are also awesome features. I took pics of levels 2,3 and 4 toasting. It toasted evenly on each side. Occasionally I’ll toast it for 30 seconds more. Levels 3-4 are the ideal doneness for us. So far we really love this toaster and hope it works for another 16 years! It looks sleek and modern on the counter.

Built well - works great - dim touch screen
Great toaster, built well. Toasts perfectly and looks great. I could tell it was built well when unboxing it. Felt heavier than my last one and the push down arms feel durable (my last toasters failure point). It’s a little more than I wanted to spend but after receiving it and using it I feel it’s worth the few extra dollars.

Highly Recommend
Love this Toaster. First toaster I've ever had that toasts evenly.

Fantastic Toaster
I don't usually get excited about appliances, but this sure brought a smile to my face. The price is fair, the service in receiving it was the usual good Amazon experience. Now about the toaster. It's flat out pretty. The design is like nothing else out there. It's super easy to use. It toasts beautifully be it a slice of bread or a bagel. Several people have mentioned that the face panel is pale. I've had no problem seeing it. Also, after a few days, you know where the setting is that you want so you don't even have to look for it. Also, I love the feature that allows me to see how much toasting time is left. Your toast pops up when done and you can easily lift the lever to raise it high enough not to burn your fingers when taking it out of the toaster. I did go ahead and buy the extended warranty. The price spread over a 3 year period is cheap insurance that the toaster is covered. This was an excellent choice. If you buy this toaster, you'll keep it.

Indeed, Very beautiful and intuitive touch screen, for ideal toater operations.
I must admit, the beautiful and well executed Oster toasters (2 or 4 slices models), are now operational in my mini-kitchen. Indeed, great interface (with fingers) to adjust your preferred toast settings...

US Plug. Mine became too hot and set the crumpets on fire. I returned it.
It came with a US plug, which was okay because I had an adapter. But when I turned it on it became excessively hot and set my crumpets on fire. Luckily I was paying attention and immediately turned it off. It singed the bottom of cupboard, but other wise no damage. Not sure if it is a faulty one, or just not compatible with the UK. If it is not compatible with the UK, Amazon should not be selling it in the UK.

Buen producto!!!

Good idea, not well made
It caught on fire once, didn’t toast properly and stopped working after about a month. I enjoyed the buttons though for the short time I had it.
