Q: Can I put baby in a footed pajamas inside this and him not get to hot ?

Definitely depends on the temp of your house but we put the fan on in my daughters room when we put footed pjs on

Please refer to the video content STEP 1: Place Infant's legs inside leg pocket. Align Infant's shoulder with top of the open swaddle. STEP 2: Wrap left wing over Infant's torso and tuck under right arm. Secure tab to top of leg pocket. STEP 3: Put right wing over left and secure tabs to patch. Wings should be secure over chest.

Q: As a first time parent I am new to these sort of things. When would you use these?

You can use these anytime. Perhaps it may be beneficial to use for nap or bedtime. As a helpful hint, you can google videos on how to use. Swaddling the baby will remind him/her of still being in the womb for comfort. Remember they came from a tight space and swaddling will remind them of the tight space. Congratulations on being a new mom! I know you'll do GREAT!

Q: Can this be used to Swaddle with babies arms out? sorta like a sleep sack? Or their arms have to be tucked in?

You could if you wanted to, but my baby girl would wake up if her arms weren't tucked in. She didn't feel swaddled I guess.
