Great tell with good drag system
Understand that this is not a $700 able reel, but for most freshwater fishing situations it's damn adequate! Bought my first maxcarch reel two years ago and have used it in pa and Montana playing and landing more than a few 20"+ trout that went well into the backing. Well worth your consideration.

Yes
What I do not get is why “big name” companies can continue the process of not advancing their designs and people still buy their products. Orvis, Redington, and many others to name a few.. still use bushings in their reels then on top of that they still use a clicker.. I cannot stand a clicker in a reel. If they want to continue that it is fine, but at least give a way to remove it. Now flip the tables and focus on these Chinese reels.. well the other big name ones are Chinese too..lol let’s just call these ones no names ... they actually place bearings into the reels, which makes them soooo much smoother.. and say 10yrs down the road you have an issue... guess what, take the bearing out and replace it.. you cannot do that with the big names.. once the bushing gets worn, well the reel is retired. Unless you have access to a machine shop. These lesser known companies are making a lot of progress, and the quality has risen and the days of fear of buying them are gone. Yes I have the big names, and I have many of these lesser known reels. And instead of pulling my hair out every time I have to hear the clicks as I reel I leave them at home, and take these silent retrieve reels out instead. Don’t hesitate or think your friends will look down on you. If they ask what the reel is let them try it out. They will buy one too.

Great reel
Got this reel today right on time. Reel looks and functions perfectly.I loaded it work line, nymph line, and attached it to my maxcatch nymph rod and caught a few trout. Super easy to swap too right hand retrieve. I love this tell. Looks amazing. I absolutely recommend this and other maxcatch products.UPDATE: took this real trophy fishing today, it was the first time the drag really HAD to be engaged and worked like a charm. I landed ten trout over 20 inches all 4-8 pounds. Loving this reel more and more!!

Great reel. Great price.
This reel feels WAY more expensive than it is. Smooth as glass, easy and predictable drag adjustment, quiet clicks. I got the green one and it looks awesome. Been fly fishing nearly 30 years, and I’d buy another one of these in a heartbeat.

Great value
First time I have bought one of the less expensive Chinese reels ( at least on purpose) but won't be the last. Easily on par with other better known fly reels I own costing 2-3X more than the Maxcatch. I have this one on a 4wt. Cabelas CGR fiberglass rod , smooth drag and lokks great !

Couple little things, overcome by OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!
So far it's working well. It's decently smooth with a simple design. The only issue I've been having is with the drag. It will loosen on its own relatively easily. It gets slightly annoying for me and the reason for 4 stars. Everything else about the reel is great. This reel has taken some decent falls. I'm currently in Machining school and made some parts to keep the drag from loosening so easily. Keep the reel clean and greased and it will last a long time!THE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM MAXIMUMCATCH IS ABSOLUTELY TOP NOTCH! Bumping to 5 stars.I have been float tube fishing on the lakes a lot lately. The cork drag disk became saturated and fell apart. I asked maxcatch what size it was so that I replace it. They replied with "we believe that a new reel will solve this issue for you"!!! A NEW REEL!!! A person couldn't beg for anything more than that! Maxcatch has been absolutely awesome for me. I broke a fly rod of theirs when I slipped and fell. Boom 15 minutes later a new rod section was in the mail no question asked.

What a steal!
I was pretty wary about buying an off-brand low price point reel. I am someone that owns Lamson, Sage, etc. and have no problem investing in a $450+ reel and I like nice things. This time I purchased an Echo 2WT rod from my shop and wanted to keep this setup on the low end since I’m using it for small brookie streams. Since I will most likely never need to engage a drag system on a 2WT, I figured I can take a chance on a reel that wouldn’t break the bank. I did my research, and Maxcatch seems to get quite the good reviews. It was CNC machined aluminum, 3.8oz, not even cast aluminum, which you would even see in higher priced brands lower end models. For $40 I ordered it.Well I gotta tell ya, the drag feels excellent, and the quality of the reel is definitely no where NEAR you would think it would be. It’s a really nice, well machined reel, and it’s very light. If you’re concerned with it balancing on your rod, trust me it’s good. Very happy with this purchase and will keep this brand in mind when I am in need of another!
