First and foremost, it does what the watch is supposed to do! It keeps accurate time, it receives signals that keep it in the correct time zone, and it speaks out time, date, year...(these are the only functions we care about.) The others did most of this (except one did not receive time signals) so why is this one favored? An expandable band for a visually handicapped person is important. The first watch with that kind of band cost about three times what I paid for this one, did not keep time any better, and when the battery died I realized I wanted a solar powered watch. The second was an "atomic signal" one, but to keep the price down I got a leather band which was a mistake because I had to put the watch on and take it off, which is not what you want a handicapped person to add to other difficulties. But the worse problem was that when it got only slightly wet it died and none of the usual treatments ever brought it back to life. So...the fact that this watch has all of the functions and features I want warrants 5 stars. And I really like that USB powered light source for recharging the battery -- that is clever, simple to use, and convenient. I should add that the "major con" is the poorly written instructions that accompany the watch. I finally figured them out and got everything working, but what took me about an hour of reading and rereading, should have taken 5 minutes with clear instructions. The supplier did sent a nice email about the product and included a link to video instructions. I wrote back that those instructions ought to be sent with the delivery to do any good and they wrote back an acknowledgement of that, explaining they only provided that after hearing complaints about their instructions. I thought this was another plus for a company who listens to and responds to customer problems! I am sorry to see on the desertcart site that this is not being offered now, hope they do restart it for others who need one. Main problem being the talking part. It isn't loud enough for him or me to hear and is garbled to the point of not understanding what is being said, even if we could hear it. We each have hearing aids that work, but not for this watch. He has sent it back to me and I will try to return it for a full refund. We really wanted it to work as he is blind and it would be nice for him to have. It really complicated to set especially with numbness in our hands and fingers in particular. We have grandchildren that set it which is of no use as it can't be heard nor understood.
